there is a limit
the Supreme Court overrides executive orders
yeah, executive orders are not just law
afaik
you can basically ignore them if you really wanted to
well look at that travel ban from those 7 muslim nations
didn't like half of America ignore that? and its currently awaiting SCOTUS final call?
"Like both legislative statutes and regulations promulgated by government agencies, executive orders are subject to judicial review and may be overturned if the orders lack support by statute or the Constitution."
yeah so there cant be an Exec Order to kill all male gingers 😦
but there is already a genocide on the black gingers!
yeah im not worried about that level of abuse
i mean, where are the black gingers?!
oh theres plenty
just reorder the letters in ginger 😉

my consern is the use of executive orders to basicly do the congress's job for them. which often ends up undermining state govenrments
true, but afaik trump does the opposite in some cases, demanding congress fix it instead of just throwing an Exec order
i think executive orders should be used in responce to problems that will have great consaquences if they arnt adressed quickly and no other branch of the governemnt is as fast as the executive
i think that was their original purpose
"While they do bypass the U.S. Congress and the standard legislative law making process, no part of an executive order may direct the agencies to conduct illegal or unconstitutional activities."
Honestly the first problem they did was make executive orders be something with an indefinite time period
if you have to use executive orders in order to undermine congress then it should be obvious that is also what its being used for
"The president can amend or retract his or her own executive at any time. The president may also issue an executive order superseding or nullifying executive orders issued by former presidents. New incoming presidents may choose to retain the executive orders issued by their predecessors, replace them with new ones of their own, or revoke the old ones completely. In extreme cases, Congress may pass a law that alters an executive order, and they can be declared unconstitutional and vacated by the Supreme Court."
sometimes though it seems executive orders are being used to just do things that should be delt with by another part of the government
like gay marrage
more than sometimes imo 😦
more like "generally"
executive orders are hilariously stupid in how powerful they seem to be
well thats usually my complaint about the president having more power than i think they should
honestly im not sure what their limits are
i dont think they are supidly powerful, but they are noticibly so
their limits are within the constituion
because as said before they can be overturned
also I love how the media refers to the cake ruling as a "narrow victory" when it was 7-2
what they mean to say is that the victory didint effect much of the law
oh I know
it's just an incredibly satisfying way to kick off pride month
i mean, all it does is hand bakeries the right to make this "gay only" month.
but they never think of that
Im more surprised there wasn't another bakery that said "We'll supply you for free"
You'd get insane publicity from the media
