Howdy everyone! I'm Silver and I'm a novelist! I hope those of you in the US are enjoying a happy turkey day!

2018-11-22 17:05:00 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Oh, well the blocking function works. ๐Ÿ˜‹

2018-11-22 17:46:46 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

@AnObserver Cool Theory. I thought those were the only two options myself for a time.
You could compare the Menโ€™s Rights Movement to the Civil Rights movement in the 1960โ€™s. A group devoted to changing society, by using the already established rules of civility.

But there have been a rise of two other groups that have puzzled me.

2018-11-22 17:48:24 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Incel is probably best compared to the Black Panthers of the same time era. A group fuel by hate that wants change BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.

2018-11-22 17:49:15 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

But now we also have MGTOW, a group also fueld by hateโ€ฆ. But choose inactivity vs activism.

2018-11-22 17:50:13 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

They choose to systematically remove women from their lives. No fighting. No resistance. Just ignore them.

2018-11-22 17:51:37 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

@AnObserver Good observation!

2018-11-22 17:52:18 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

I had discussed with my peer group a year back for viable ways to tackle the problem. We came up with a similar approach.

2018-11-22 18:11:18 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

I had chosen to take the long-term approach to the same subject. My skills are in story telling and world creation. So I wrote a novel that started to blend those same concepts into an action packed thriller.

You would not believe how many red flags my editor tossed at my manuscript because they were โ€œtoo
politicalโ€. And my work is young adult! There is no sex and very little violence. Everything flagged was because it portrayed men or women in roles/actions that are not typical.

2018-11-22 18:13:02 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

@AnObserver Do you work for a school? Or school project?

2018-11-22 18:19:24 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

University of Central Florida here myself. Nice to meet another academic who is interested. ๐Ÿ˜‹

2018-11-22 18:21:04 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

@Men Are Human Thank you! I would love some new perspectives on the controversial subjects in the book.

2018-11-22 18:23:59 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

It's the editors release. I wanted a version that was unedited for myself before the launch in march.

2018-11-22 18:24:36 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

But I'll post a google doc link for everyone if you would like to read it and not buy it.

2018-11-22 18:28:55 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Heh. Google drive tossed around the format. But It's still readable.

2018-11-22 18:30:30 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

It has an associated blog too: https://corgiknight.blog/

2018-11-22 18:30:51 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Previews of the art that will be released with it.

2018-11-22 18:33:15 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

@AnObserver I feel the exact same way. I try not to demonize any of them. Even feminism.

2018-11-22 18:34:08 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

I feel that ANY idea stretched to an extreme can be wrong. Most groups like Incel and feminism have just taken the idea a bit too far.

2018-11-23 00:52:34 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

I have a question for @everyone!
Hello my name is Silver and Iโ€™m a young adult novelist. Iโ€™m currently working on a series that targets young men and the social issues that theyโ€™ll unfortunately have to face. And adventure!

In-between the action there are usually slice of life sections where the main characters are confronted with social hurdles to jump. For example, the first book has tackled: Equal gender responsibility in dating, Defending yourself priorities, Respect, False accusation.

What kind of issues would YOU want young adults to learn about, In the next book?
And donโ€™t worry if these issues donโ€™t have well defined answers yet, I have a duo of writers who help me hash out what could be an answer.

2018-11-23 02:11:54 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

@asparkofpyrokravte Thank you for this! And yes ew for the "all". But this was one of those few situations where I did want to get everyone's attention.

2018-11-23 02:12:11 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

I will use it sparingly.

2018-11-25 23:50:04 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

@Skellious While these traits may be true for the evolution of past ages, what advantage do these things mean to our current age? We have built a society around NOT using brute force or physical prowess. Communication is king, yet it is still men that dominate the scholarly and philosophical pursuits. Should it not be women that hold this mantle with their enhanced evolution of perception and communication?

2018-11-26 02:43:38 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

Very well put. I've also seen the increases in certain departments. Humanities is definitely higher up there in female participation.

2018-11-26 02:43:52 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

But what about philosophy?

2018-11-26 02:46:02 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

What we claim as the intrinsic ability to delve into ourselves, the constructs we create and the nature of the universe. It would seem that the supposed evolutionary advantages should incline more women to participate. But I hardly see anything that's not Feminism based.

2018-11-26 02:47:04 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

Heck, we had two male based ideologies spawn from what it took women 60 years to cultivate. MRA and MGTOW. And technically INCEL if you want to count it.

2018-11-26 02:48:17 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

In all of my days at the university, I have found it such a challenge to get a group of women to sit down and discuss philosophy. Open ended without being forced by a professor.

2018-11-26 02:50:15 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

But if you just give a hand full of cannabis or psychedelics to a group of men and eventually the conversation turns to philosophy.

2018-11-26 02:51:55 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

The point I'm trying to get to: Trying to make a basis of biological evolution for the way that either men or women interact with our current society is folly. There are too many conflicting variables.

2018-11-26 03:10:23 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

I find it preposterous when anyone tries to claim that were growing as a society because of the increased female numbers in higher academia. Are they flocking to the four cornerstones that enhance our society? (Politics: Systems creation) (Economy: Systems maintenance and resource allocation) (Technology: Systems enhancement) (Philosophy: Human improvement.) No.

2018-11-26 03:13:10 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

They are flooding humanities (Definition of what a human WAS) and Medical (Human maintenance). The humanities flooding allows them to start altering the viewpoint of what humans were BEFORE, and use that as a rational of why we should be doing what they think. Itโ€™s like if I didnโ€™t like the house I built, so I went back, misinterpreted the blueprints, and sued the builder for doing it wrong.

2018-11-26 03:14:00 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

That is NOT a healthy way to build a society.

2018-11-28 01:29:50 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Well, I survived the purge.

2018-11-28 01:30:20 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Looking forward to the next one.

2018-11-29 01:40:13 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

I was over at r/againstmensrights and found this little tidbit.

Statement: โ€œGay men are more likely to be the victim of hate crime than lesbians or bisexual womenโ€

Response: "Who, disproportionately, commits those hate crimes?"

What are your opinions?

2018-11-29 01:42:31 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

Heh. Regressive, I like it.

2018-11-29 02:39:22 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

Sounds half built.

2018-11-29 02:39:27 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

To be honest.

2018-11-29 02:40:04 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

Is just awareness suppose to help the situation?

2018-11-29 02:40:26 UTC [Men's Human Rights #debate]

Hummm.

I keep watch of posts in the feminism subreddit. I nearly spit out my coffee with this one. Love the lack of references.

What are your thoughts?
