You strike deals, saying you’re going to be buying less of this item, meaning the price increases in your country, and you simply encourage the production of said product **in your own country**. And you keep lowering it slowly and slowly as your own production of the item increases. Eventually you can cancel the entire shipments from them, due to having the ability to produce it all by yourself. Or you can keep some small amount of deals going to keep buying the item from them, either or. This can be done for pretty much anything. It also gives the bonus of making metric tones of new jobs for you, increasing your industry and money flow, and allows you to be able to start selling your own to OTHERs.

A good thing to do is simply do what they did before, maybe add a bit more cameras, probably add 15% more security to the boarder, maybe make new systems to allow people who lack true identification (like brith certificates, most countries which people migrate from wouldn’t really be giving those out) and allow them to still come here legally via a process I’m not qualified to design
