@Username CBP would disagree with you
And literal common sense would outright deny you
And disprove cbp

> The new chief of Border Patrol, which is under U.S. Customs and Border Protection, revealed that the parts of the new “wall system” are 90% “effective,” up from just 10% before it was built, replacing a ragtag of broken fencing.
> “It changes everything,” said Chief Rodney Scott, of the 135-136 miles of new wall, roadways, and high-tech spyware. “There is a huge return on investment,” he added.
> And, in an added benefit, it now requires 150 fewer border agents, a savings of $28 million in salaries and benefits, he said at a press briefing, his first since he and Ortiz took over CBP in January.
> Plus, with a better border road, vehicles that once fell apart at 40,000-60,000 miles now last to 100,000 miles before they are auctioned off.
> And in areas of Texas with the wall, Ortiz said border agents are reporting similar success. He said that in one area of South Texas with 55 miles of new wall, just 4%-5% of illegal trafficking passes through. Before, he said, 90% got through.
Common sense = wall is a huge impediment, thus less crossings
You realize it only will slow it for a few weeks, maybe months, then it would simply go back to the way it was
Probably with like 10 less people crossing since now they have to pay for smuggling boats, tunnels, and aircrafts
At the cost of billions of dollars
Billions of dollars
Just to make 10 less people cross each year
Because they still need to find the money to pay people to let them through tunnels or hide on boats
Or stow away in planes
Why would it slow it for weeks/months?
It’s a constant thing
Even older fences are more effective long run than no fence
Because it would take time for the people to start realizing they can go through tunnels and hide on ships
Once they do? What are you going to do, pay billions more to build a wall in the sea?
Hide on ships?
You do realise they’re screened + US coast guard.
Us coast guard can’t be anywhere
Nobody crosses into America from the sea illegally
Unless it’s smuggling
Which is very rare
That’s a lie-
Tunnels? They exist now but vast majority do not use it - the wall goes below 10 feet
And it’s concrete.
No they bring people via boat alright
Along with guess what?
**drugs**
Yes that’s smuggling, and they’re usually caught
Not as much as you thing
The ocean is a big place
Hello
And before you try to rant about increasing coast guard because **aparently** throwing enough people and wasting enough money can solve any issues
The borders however are not, we have constant surveillance of the us waters
Nobody gets in without screening
Keep in mind that a boarder patrol agent probably could be a 10th the cost of a coast guard agent
We don’t need to increase coast guard resources, it’s already sufficient.
Yes
