They needed better training and something bigger.

Also "sawed off" is dumb. Just makes the shotgun spray wider (less energy into target, more missed shots that are a danger to bystanders) and being shorter makes it easier to conceal. It doesn't make it more powerful.

Use a regular shot gun. 12-guage with slugs has enormous stopping power already. If you absolutely need the cone, use buckshot and set the choke wide.

I forget whom it was Hitchens was quoting, but he gave his own take on an older concept that includes rationalism and empiricism. Basically, claims require evidence. Fantastic claims require fantastic evidence. Mediocre claims require only mediocre evidence.

One can believe in dogs on little evidence. It's not quite faith.

One can believe in gods, but it takes a lot of evidence. That evidence is lacking, and faith is how folks make up the deficit.

Loose "deist" or Einstein's pantheist "universe is God" ideas don't have interest in humans the way Yahweh and the deities of most religions have. They're also lacking a sapient mind or agenda.
