2018-10-03 15:20:20 UTC

what do you mean?

2018-10-03 15:20:29 UTC

>goal of fascism is to produce a socialist state
>nationalize business, focus on workers rights/interests
>it's nationalist/ethnocentric so it's right wing lol

2018-10-03 15:21:54 UTC

it's the same thing with National Socialism

2018-10-03 15:21:58 UTC

@J Edgar What's yer channel?

2018-10-03 15:22:16 UTC

National Socialism is just German Fascism

2018-10-03 15:22:18 UTC

it's just that the 1% is ethnic in their eyes

2018-10-03 15:22:49 UTC

Crowder did a great video comparing the economic ideas of Bernie and Adolph

2018-10-03 15:23:55 UTC

Wew

2018-10-03 15:24:33 UTC

I dont think the comparison is needed tbh. Bernie's arguments can and do fail on their own merits

2018-10-03 15:29:00 UTC

it's interesting either way

2018-10-03 15:30:13 UTC

Tbh I see left/right wing these days as a convoluted way of saying "you're not in my tribe"

2018-10-03 15:30:54 UTC

I say this as someone who has been called a "libtard" and banned from a "lefty" discussion group on the same day

2018-10-03 15:34:27 UTC

Just call em Marxists

2018-10-03 15:46:39 UTC

i just watched the change my mind segment

2018-10-03 15:46:43 UTC

dear god that first woman

2018-10-03 15:46:49 UTC

police officer put her ass down

2018-10-03 15:46:50 UTC

lololol

2018-10-03 15:57:36 UTC

Oh man I still need to watch that shit

2018-10-03 16:28:33 UTC

That Change My Mind segment was impossible to watch for me. I couldn't get through the first lady's arguments.
Totally unwatchable.

2018-10-03 16:29:31 UTC

Did anyone fact check her issues with the empirical data regarding the rape statistics? She mentioned two acronyms that apparently are relevant.

2018-10-03 16:30:45 UTC

And she says that rapes aren't recorded as rapes sometimes by police? I know that when I lived in South Africa that most crimes go undocumented in poor areas (which is most of the country).

2018-10-03 17:10:52 UTC

@Mongo Jongo did you at least get to the part where the cop confronted the crazy lady?

2018-10-03 17:12:33 UTC

I did. I had to piecemeal that video.
When she shakes his hand, "I was raped on your campus". This lady is a person who cries when she's frustrated. That's how my family is too. But mad props to Steven for treating her with respect even though she was calling him an idiot rape apologist.

2018-10-03 17:15:12 UTC

I like how he drops the bomb on her 'I told you I didn't know a lot of things'

2018-10-03 17:17:23 UTC

I was more disappointed in that part than anything. Debating that particular girl in the first place was a disaster. She clearly wasn't in a good emotional place to be debating anything. I don't think she could have debated the best way to store used grocery bags let alone rape culture.
I liked that he was throwing the FBI statistics on rape, and asking probing questions about how we perpetuate culture. He had basically the same conversation with the guy in the white shirt, but more productive.

2018-10-03 17:17:38 UTC

Steven's at his best when he's not trying to "Gotcha!" people.

2018-10-03 17:17:59 UTC

Meh

2018-10-03 17:18:11 UTC

I prefer to just get it over with with the terrible people

2018-10-03 17:18:24 UTC

Let everyone see how stupid you are through your own actions

2018-10-03 17:18:38 UTC

I'll put effort into the ones who are polite

2018-10-03 17:19:14 UTC

I wish he could have gotten through his discussion with her more quickly. He gambles on being able to change people's mind with this segment.

2018-10-03 17:19:29 UTC

Like even just breaking it down into 2 questions would have helped.

2018-10-03 17:20:05 UTC

Unrelated though, did anyone see his beef with Potholer?

2018-10-03 17:21:31 UTC

I do agree with that

2018-10-03 17:21:39 UTC

He should have stomped her quickly

2018-10-03 17:22:01 UTC

Either saying we're done or letting her lose it

2018-10-03 17:22:06 UTC

Potholer?

2018-10-03 17:23:32 UTC

Potholer is that guy who studies Climate change.

2018-10-03 17:23:43 UTC

He had a debate scheduled with Crowder that Crowder backed out on.

2018-10-03 17:24:01 UTC

It's the reason why for a long time I couldn't watch Steven on anything.

2018-10-03 17:24:54 UTC

I can find the video

2018-10-03 17:25:45 UTC

Oh. That issue. Thatโ€™s my one beef with Steven. He does at least deny that climate change is an issue worth addressing.

2018-10-03 17:25:49 UTC

Did he give a reason for backing out?

2018-10-03 17:26:13 UTC

He canโ€™t prove it wrong, so he probably backed out for that reason.

2018-10-03 17:26:45 UTC

Not gay Jared just lied and said that Potholer backed out. But the E-mails with certificate says otherwise.

2018-10-03 17:27:01 UTC

So no reason then

2018-10-03 17:27:08 UTC

Pretty much.

2018-10-03 17:27:25 UTC

The only way I'm able to let that go is by acknowledging that Crowder is first and foremost a comedian.

2018-10-03 17:27:37 UTC

He's wrong on some serious issues, but if you go for the comedy it's not so bad.

2018-10-03 17:27:44 UTC

Agreed

2018-10-03 17:27:57 UTC
2018-10-03 17:28:50 UTC

@Mongo Jongo What else do you disagree with him on?

2018-10-03 17:29:20 UTC

He has some really bad understanding of colonial era native Americans.

2018-10-03 17:29:27 UTC

Ryan Dawson did a breakdown on that one.

2018-10-03 17:30:30 UTC

But then he's also pretty pro Israel on everything, but he moves the goalpost by saying, "Well, it's better than caliphate Islam." Yeah, sticking your dick in the blender is better than Caliphate Islam. Doesn't mean you get a free pass.

2018-10-03 17:32:11 UTC

And "Change my mind" is a misnomer. He has no intention of changing his mind. The whole point is to bait people into arguing on camera. Which is fine. But "Change my mind" intimates that he'd be open to changing his mind. Which, let's be real, he's not.
I did the same thing back in 2012, and looking back, it's just not a measure of good faith.

2018-10-03 17:32:21 UTC

But other than that, I agree with him on most things.

2018-10-03 17:33:36 UTC

I think he's open to change his mind but he picks topics that he's so dead set on it's very hard

2018-10-03 17:34:43 UTC

Yeah, that's a good point.

2018-10-03 17:34:43 UTC

Ok. Iโ€™ve forgotten a lot of that part of American history. I need to touch up on it. I personally still donโ€™t exactly know what to think about Israel and Palestine.

2018-10-03 17:35:58 UTC

I think he could be convinced on climate change, but only when itโ€™s pretty obvious that fossil fuels are on their way out. Itโ€™s still hard to imagine things running without some for of fossil fuel.

2018-10-03 17:37:02 UTC

Well that and it's hard to realistically imagine everything running green

2018-10-03 17:37:14 UTC

Considering the current cost of green energy

2018-10-03 17:38:33 UTC

Well, wind and solar have gotten pretty cheap. Itโ€™s just hard to see not only the entire electric grid without fossil fuels but also transportation and industry.

2018-10-03 17:39:00 UTC

In the next couple of years I plan on getting an electric vehicle.

2018-10-03 17:39:20 UTC

It may have gotten cheap but not cheap enough to replace the entire backbone of every first world country

2018-10-03 17:39:58 UTC

Remember not only do you neeed to be cheaper than fossil fuels, but so cheap they will tear down their old grid and use yours instead

2018-10-03 17:40:44 UTC

Green Energy is still pretty far off, in that it needs to become cheap to manufacture to get poor countries on board with it. And it needs to produce way more power to meet our needs. Although other energy alternatives are in the works.

2018-10-03 17:41:09 UTC

Fusion and nuclear come to mind

2018-10-03 17:41:23 UTC

Hey y'all! Have you ever heard any of Tony Seba's talks on EV's, solar and batteries.? Pretty interesting stuff.

2018-10-03 17:41:35 UTC

Its hard to tell, but the analysts that I have seen imply that wind and solar are some of the cheapest sources and they are getting cheaper. I do think that nuclear will still need to be used too.

2018-10-03 17:42:04 UTC

Really? Just the energy though

2018-10-03 17:42:15 UTC

What about batteries

2018-10-03 17:42:21 UTC

My problem with the climate change shit is that it's allowed people to completely ignore other issues with pollution

2018-10-03 17:42:29 UTC

I believe batteries are still lagging behind

2018-10-03 17:42:31 UTC

Outside of like, the occasional oil spill

2018-10-03 17:43:18 UTC

Yeah. The levelized cost of energy, or LCOE, of wind and solar are fairly cheap. Natural gas is about the same. Thatโ€™s why so much coal has been shut down.

2018-10-03 17:43:33 UTC

And then also place ridiculous importance on shit that has nothing to do with any of the stuff they're talking about, or runs counter to their goals

2018-10-03 17:43:41 UTC

@Clay tony seba? Whoโ€™s that?

2018-10-03 17:44:43 UTC
2018-10-03 17:45:08 UTC

Stanford Uni, I think.

2018-10-03 17:45:15 UTC

@Beemann have you looked at the sierra clubs beyond coal campaign?

2018-10-03 17:45:59 UTC

Realistically, we are about 3-5 years off electric cars going completely mainstream.

2018-10-03 17:46:24 UTC

I drive one.

2018-10-03 17:46:33 UTC

What model?

2018-10-03 17:47:13 UTC

used volt, would like a Tesla, but I need a house more.

2018-10-03 17:48:19 UTC

Yeah. Teslaโ€™s are too expensive. Iโ€™d be willing to drive a bolt or something similar, even though I donโ€™t like the look that much. I just canโ€™t afford a new car right now. I want to though.

2018-10-03 17:48:37 UTC

I'm sorry but I'm going to be one of those assholes who never gets a green car

2018-10-03 17:48:59 UTC

I like my vroom vroom

2018-10-03 17:49:07 UTC

And eeee eee doesn't cut it

2018-10-03 17:49:31 UTC

@Holo lol. Thatโ€™s fine. Do you own a truck? Right now, there arenโ€™t any good ev trucks.

2018-10-03 17:49:40 UTC

Nah

2018-10-03 17:49:43 UTC

Sedan

2018-10-03 17:49:43 UTC

I don't drive it to be green. It's just super cheap.

2018-10-03 17:49:59 UTC

Super cheap, you mean after you buy it

2018-10-03 17:50:01 UTC
2018-10-03 17:50:02 UTC

take a look at that 180

2018-10-03 17:50:24 UTC

This is an interesting talk about global warming.

2018-10-03 17:50:41 UTC

Iโ€™ll lot at it later
