So no reason then

2018-10-03 17:27:08 UTC

Pretty much.

2018-10-03 17:27:25 UTC

The only way I'm able to let that go is by acknowledging that Crowder is first and foremost a comedian.

2018-10-03 17:27:37 UTC

He's wrong on some serious issues, but if you go for the comedy it's not so bad.

2018-10-03 17:27:44 UTC

Agreed

2018-10-03 17:27:57 UTC
2018-10-03 17:28:50 UTC

@Mongo Jongo What else do you disagree with him on?

2018-10-03 17:29:20 UTC

He has some really bad understanding of colonial era native Americans.

2018-10-03 17:29:27 UTC

Ryan Dawson did a breakdown on that one.

2018-10-03 17:30:30 UTC

But then he's also pretty pro Israel on everything, but he moves the goalpost by saying, "Well, it's better than caliphate Islam." Yeah, sticking your dick in the blender is better than Caliphate Islam. Doesn't mean you get a free pass.

2018-10-03 17:32:11 UTC

And "Change my mind" is a misnomer. He has no intention of changing his mind. The whole point is to bait people into arguing on camera. Which is fine. But "Change my mind" intimates that he'd be open to changing his mind. Which, let's be real, he's not.
I did the same thing back in 2012, and looking back, it's just not a measure of good faith.

2018-10-03 17:32:21 UTC

But other than that, I agree with him on most things.

2018-10-03 17:33:36 UTC

I think he's open to change his mind but he picks topics that he's so dead set on it's very hard

2018-10-03 17:34:43 UTC

Yeah, that's a good point.

2018-10-03 17:34:43 UTC

Ok. I’ve forgotten a lot of that part of American history. I need to touch up on it. I personally still don’t exactly know what to think about Israel and Palestine.

2018-10-03 17:35:58 UTC

I think he could be convinced on climate change, but only when it’s pretty obvious that fossil fuels are on their way out. It’s still hard to imagine things running without some for of fossil fuel.

2018-10-03 17:37:02 UTC

Well that and it's hard to realistically imagine everything running green

2018-10-03 17:37:14 UTC

Considering the current cost of green energy

2018-10-03 17:38:33 UTC

Well, wind and solar have gotten pretty cheap. It’s just hard to see not only the entire electric grid without fossil fuels but also transportation and industry.

2018-10-03 17:39:00 UTC

In the next couple of years I plan on getting an electric vehicle.

2018-10-03 17:39:20 UTC

It may have gotten cheap but not cheap enough to replace the entire backbone of every first world country

2018-10-03 17:39:58 UTC

Remember not only do you neeed to be cheaper than fossil fuels, but so cheap they will tear down their old grid and use yours instead

2018-10-03 17:40:44 UTC

Green Energy is still pretty far off, in that it needs to become cheap to manufacture to get poor countries on board with it. And it needs to produce way more power to meet our needs. Although other energy alternatives are in the works.

2018-10-03 17:41:09 UTC

Fusion and nuclear come to mind

2018-10-03 17:41:23 UTC

Hey y'all! Have you ever heard any of Tony Seba's talks on EV's, solar and batteries.? Pretty interesting stuff.

2018-10-03 17:41:35 UTC

Its hard to tell, but the analysts that I have seen imply that wind and solar are some of the cheapest sources and they are getting cheaper. I do think that nuclear will still need to be used too.

2018-10-03 17:42:04 UTC

Really? Just the energy though

2018-10-03 17:42:15 UTC

What about batteries

2018-10-03 17:42:21 UTC

My problem with the climate change shit is that it's allowed people to completely ignore other issues with pollution

2018-10-03 17:42:29 UTC

I believe batteries are still lagging behind

2018-10-03 17:42:31 UTC

Outside of like, the occasional oil spill

2018-10-03 17:43:18 UTC

Yeah. The levelized cost of energy, or LCOE, of wind and solar are fairly cheap. Natural gas is about the same. That’s why so much coal has been shut down.

2018-10-03 17:43:33 UTC

And then also place ridiculous importance on shit that has nothing to do with any of the stuff they're talking about, or runs counter to their goals

2018-10-03 17:43:41 UTC

@Clay tony seba? Who’s that?

2018-10-03 17:44:43 UTC
2018-10-03 17:45:08 UTC

Stanford Uni, I think.

2018-10-03 17:45:15 UTC

@Beemann have you looked at the sierra clubs beyond coal campaign?

2018-10-03 17:45:59 UTC

Realistically, we are about 3-5 years off electric cars going completely mainstream.

2018-10-03 17:46:24 UTC

I drive one.

2018-10-03 17:46:33 UTC

What model?

2018-10-03 17:47:13 UTC

used volt, would like a Tesla, but I need a house more.
