Hey, would someone be willing to help me out? I've got a friend on Facebook that's trying to debate the Kavanaugh thing. I need some links to sources here if anyone has them.

He doesn't believe it's stalling. I'd feel safer attacking the position that Dr. Ford doesn't have holes in her story.

Because I feel like that's more defensible.

He's bought into the line "It's just a job interview."
The hard part is, he, like an asshole responded to 3 different comments in multiple parts. So, now I have to juggle all my arguments instead of responding all at once.
I'm almost thinking about just dropping the argument.

And he waited a full 24 hours to respond. And I know he went and did exactly what I'm doing now.

And it's not just Ford's friend and Therapist. "I believe her because we're friends" is actually a pretty important distinction from "Yes, I corroborate that she and I were at this same party, and she acted like a victim of assault on the night of X at Y, and she got a ride from Z who can also corroborate."
Her therapist under affidavit swore that Dr. Ford did not mention Kavanaugh's name.
There were two others that Dr. Ford said were there, and they said that they can't confirm they were there.
That's 0 for 4.

I think an FBI investigation would be great, if A: They had something to go on. With the information given by Dr. Ford, there's literally nothing they can investigate. They don't have an exact year, a location of the party, and the people who were there, can't say that they were.
That's huge.

The reason why I'm on the fence, is that Kavanaugh is still trying to provide evidence, sourcing journal entries going back 30 years consistently. Accompanied with calendars. That's huge if we see that.

It's a courtesy that I'd grant you my friend if a woman alleged that you raped her in highschool. Now you can say, "But that would never happen to me." But it's not unheard of. And that's why we have innocent until proven guilty.

I did a deep study of world religions, and I have a very deep knowledge of the bible, and a lot of the translations, (not a brag, just background for this story). So, we were able to discuss in depth some of his issues with some of the harsh shit in Deuteronomy and numbers.

Yeah, so that's why I had this conversation in the first place.

It's just a shame. Because 100% of all of my friends are hardcore liberal. So whereas a few years ago, it wasn't a big deal, now it's like, I know how it feels to be a closeted gay man.

I don't think criticisms of Israel are anti-Semitic inherently. As Israel is a government, and Semites are a biological group.
But other than that, yeah I do think she was snippy and could have used several chill pills.

I'm assuming it's because Ben is super in favor of everything Israel does, but he's got blindfolds on for everything Israel has ever done. I think it's good to support the US for example, but I'm not blind to the fact that Bill Clinton started wars and staged coups to further political agendas.
That said, yes she was dodging questions like they were laser beams.
It's frustrating for sure. But the biggest problem I have with debating with Leftists is that the goal post doesn't ever change, it never exists in the first place. They just throw haymaker arguments and hope that one of them is going to be a knockout. Even if you can reduce their point to its indefensible center, there's no way they'll back down. They don't have a religion or any sort of mythology to try their life by, so their political dogma takes its place.
What's worse is I'm seeing almost every peer in my life turning hard left because, "But wot about tha feelings?"

At one point I had a girl I was interested in tell me that it was un-christlike to support the travel ban. Despite the fact that Christ was all about following the letter of the law, submitting to the census of Caeser and advocating for paying taxes. Unrelated-ish. But this is a girl who at one point was a missionary. Total 180 for the sake of social justice.

That Change My Mind segment was impossible to watch for me. I couldn't get through the first lady's arguments.

Did anyone fact check her issues with the empirical data regarding the rape statistics? She mentioned two acronyms that apparently are relevant.

And she says that rapes aren't recorded as rapes sometimes by police? I know that when I lived in South Africa that most crimes go undocumented in poor areas (which is most of the country).

I did. I had to piecemeal that video.
When she shakes his hand, "I was raped on your campus". This lady is a person who cries when she's frustrated. That's how my family is too. But mad props to Steven for treating her with respect even though she was calling him an idiot rape apologist.

I was more disappointed in that part than anything. Debating that particular girl in the first place was a disaster. She clearly wasn't in a good emotional place to be debating anything. I don't think she could have debated the best way to store used grocery bags let alone rape culture.
I liked that he was throwing the FBI statistics on rape, and asking probing questions about how we perpetuate culture. He had basically the same conversation with the guy in the white shirt, but more productive.

Steven's at his best when he's not trying to "Gotcha!" people.

I wish he could have gotten through his discussion with her more quickly. He gambles on being able to change people's mind with this segment.

Like even just breaking it down into 2 questions would have helped.

Unrelated though, did anyone see his beef with Potholer?

Potholer is that guy who studies Climate change.

He had a debate scheduled with Crowder that Crowder backed out on.

It's the reason why for a long time I couldn't watch Steven on anything.

The only way I'm able to let that go is by acknowledging that Crowder is first and foremost a comedian.

He's wrong on some serious issues, but if you go for the comedy it's not so bad.
