I was more disappointed in that part than anything. Debating that particular girl in the first place was a disaster. She clearly wasn't in a good emotional place to be debating anything. I don't think she could have debated the best way to store used grocery bags let alone rape culture.
I liked that he was throwing the FBI statistics on rape, and asking probing questions about how we perpetuate culture. He had basically the same conversation with the guy in the white shirt, but more productive.

Steven's at his best when he's not trying to "Gotcha!" people.

2018-10-03 17:17:59 UTC

Meh

2018-10-03 17:18:11 UTC

I prefer to just get it over with with the terrible people

2018-10-03 17:18:24 UTC

Let everyone see how stupid you are through your own actions

2018-10-03 17:18:38 UTC

I'll put effort into the ones who are polite

2018-10-03 17:19:14 UTC

I wish he could have gotten through his discussion with her more quickly. He gambles on being able to change people's mind with this segment.

2018-10-03 17:19:29 UTC

Like even just breaking it down into 2 questions would have helped.

2018-10-03 17:20:05 UTC

Unrelated though, did anyone see his beef with Potholer?

2018-10-03 17:21:31 UTC

I do agree with that

2018-10-03 17:21:39 UTC

He should have stomped her quickly

2018-10-03 17:22:01 UTC

Either saying we're done or letting her lose it

2018-10-03 17:22:06 UTC

Potholer?

2018-10-03 17:23:32 UTC

Potholer is that guy who studies Climate change.

2018-10-03 17:23:43 UTC

He had a debate scheduled with Crowder that Crowder backed out on.

2018-10-03 17:24:01 UTC

It's the reason why for a long time I couldn't watch Steven on anything.

2018-10-03 17:24:54 UTC

I can find the video

2018-10-03 17:25:45 UTC

Oh. That issue. That’s my one beef with Steven. He does at least deny that climate change is an issue worth addressing.

2018-10-03 17:25:49 UTC

Did he give a reason for backing out?

2018-10-03 17:26:13 UTC

He can’t prove it wrong, so he probably backed out for that reason.

2018-10-03 17:26:45 UTC

Not gay Jared just lied and said that Potholer backed out. But the E-mails with certificate says otherwise.

2018-10-03 17:27:01 UTC

So no reason then

2018-10-03 17:27:08 UTC

Pretty much.

2018-10-03 17:27:25 UTC

The only way I'm able to let that go is by acknowledging that Crowder is first and foremost a comedian.

2018-10-03 17:27:37 UTC

He's wrong on some serious issues, but if you go for the comedy it's not so bad.

2018-10-03 17:27:44 UTC

Agreed

2018-10-03 17:27:57 UTC
2018-10-03 17:28:50 UTC

@Mongo Jongo What else do you disagree with him on?

2018-10-03 17:29:20 UTC

He has some really bad understanding of colonial era native Americans.

2018-10-03 17:29:27 UTC

Ryan Dawson did a breakdown on that one.

2018-10-03 17:30:30 UTC

But then he's also pretty pro Israel on everything, but he moves the goalpost by saying, "Well, it's better than caliphate Islam." Yeah, sticking your dick in the blender is better than Caliphate Islam. Doesn't mean you get a free pass.

2018-10-03 17:32:11 UTC

And "Change my mind" is a misnomer. He has no intention of changing his mind. The whole point is to bait people into arguing on camera. Which is fine. But "Change my mind" intimates that he'd be open to changing his mind. Which, let's be real, he's not.
I did the same thing back in 2012, and looking back, it's just not a measure of good faith.

2018-10-03 17:32:21 UTC

But other than that, I agree with him on most things.

2018-10-03 17:33:36 UTC

I think he's open to change his mind but he picks topics that he's so dead set on it's very hard

2018-10-03 17:34:43 UTC

Yeah, that's a good point.

2018-10-03 17:34:43 UTC

Ok. I’ve forgotten a lot of that part of American history. I need to touch up on it. I personally still don’t exactly know what to think about Israel and Palestine.

2018-10-03 17:35:58 UTC

I think he could be convinced on climate change, but only when it’s pretty obvious that fossil fuels are on their way out. It’s still hard to imagine things running without some for of fossil fuel.

2018-10-03 17:37:02 UTC

Well that and it's hard to realistically imagine everything running green

2018-10-03 17:37:14 UTC

Considering the current cost of green energy

2018-10-03 17:38:33 UTC

Well, wind and solar have gotten pretty cheap. It’s just hard to see not only the entire electric grid without fossil fuels but also transportation and industry.

2018-10-03 17:39:00 UTC

In the next couple of years I plan on getting an electric vehicle.
