2018-11-03 06:19:12 UTC

@Logan they look like they've had a few drinks and they still don't give a fuck

2018-11-03 06:19:16 UTC

The McDonalds

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/481597551272001546/508163236516986880/abc.png

2018-11-03 06:19:19 UTC

the title of that piece of art is also hilarious

2018-11-03 06:19:53 UTC

What's it called?

2018-11-03 06:20:01 UTC

And why is everything so cryptic?

2018-11-03 06:20:40 UTC

"The letter to the turkish sultan"

2018-11-03 06:20:55 UTC

@Flint this is probably Kazakhstan or China because there wasn't McDonald's in Kyrgyzstan

2018-11-03 06:20:57 UTC

you could pretty much extrapolate the content of that letter from the picture

2018-11-03 06:21:28 UTC

What a rowdy looking bunch of guys, I would not be comfortable in their company

2018-11-03 06:21:43 UTC

same

2018-11-03 06:21:59 UTC

i mean

2018-11-03 06:22:04 UTC

if you understand what Cossacks are originaly

2018-11-03 06:22:08 UTC

this would not surprise you

2018-11-03 06:22:15 UTC

Conan the Barbarian levels of deceit

2018-11-03 06:22:24 UTC

Cossacks were originally runaway peasants that settled on the frontiers and borders

2018-11-03 06:22:35 UTC

because there would be no wealthy landowners in those parts

2018-11-03 06:22:48 UTC

Selling wheat one minute, blades to your throat bartering your freedom the next...

2018-11-03 06:22:56 UTC

Fuck yes I found that phoenix pic

2018-11-03 06:23:04 UTC

Show the pic

2018-11-03 06:23:07 UTC

and the govt of russia at first tried to capture some of them. but then they made a deal where they would protect the borders in exchange for freedom

2018-11-03 06:23:15 UTC

I scrolled up, didn't see anything offhand

2018-11-03 06:23:32 UTC

so they were basically peasants that were very tough and basically were vassals of the russian tsar

2018-11-03 06:23:56 UTC

Just when I think I know history, you fellas bring me back down to earth

2018-11-03 06:23:56 UTC

over time, they transformed into a more organized fighting force and became a crucial fighting unit of the cavalry

2018-11-03 06:24:11 UTC

Cossacks exist even today

2018-11-03 06:24:16 UTC

in fact, they are very right wing

2018-11-03 06:24:27 UTC

I don't know Russian history at all outside of 1918 onward (and even then...)

2018-11-03 06:24:37 UTC

The world's a big place...

2018-11-03 06:24:38 UTC

their most famous stunt from the last decade is when they whipped Pussy Riot with whips during the Sochi olympics

2018-11-03 06:24:53 UTC

Oh, that's them? I love those guys!

2018-11-03 06:24:58 UTC

yeah

2018-11-03 06:25:02 UTC

lol

2018-11-03 06:25:02 UTC

based and redpilled

2018-11-03 06:25:16 UTC

For anyone who has visited Kazakstahn, this is one of their ornamental gardens in Astana.

2018-11-03 06:25:22 UTC

They should have consulted the painting

2018-11-03 06:25:47 UTC

@guacmerchant that's cool, how do you know so much about the land of Borat?

2018-11-03 06:25:50 UTC

@guacmerchant Wow, that looks pretty 60's scifi futuristic

2018-11-03 06:26:00 UTC

raise your hand if you love retrofuturism

2018-11-03 06:26:04 UTC

๐Ÿ–

2018-11-03 06:26:10 UTC

Like, they have 7ft tall blonde women

2018-11-03 06:27:03 UTC

That's what this is about

2018-11-03 06:27:14 UTC

@YourFundamentalTheorum I don't I just remember wanting to visit some of the architectural wonders of the stans, despite the bad transport.

2018-11-03 06:27:56 UTC

How many Stans are worth going too, though?

2018-11-03 06:28:01 UTC

Pretty rough area

2018-11-03 06:28:17 UTC

realistically?

2018-11-03 06:28:18 UTC

none

2018-11-03 06:28:21 UTC

If I was 18 and thought I was invincible, I might go

2018-11-03 06:28:31 UTC

they are all former soviet countries

2018-11-03 06:28:39 UTC

and they have really high tensions between them

2018-11-03 06:28:43 UTC

Now that I realize my mortality, I won't even go to a Braves game...

2018-11-03 06:28:44 UTC

Turkmenistan.

2018-11-03 06:28:56 UTC

yeah the soviets built that shit

2018-11-03 06:29:07 UTC

i think

2018-11-03 06:29:09 UTC

Commies built that?

2018-11-03 06:29:10 UTC

Yea surprised it isn't in ruins

2018-11-03 06:29:15 UTC

they built a lot of stuff in the stans

2018-11-03 06:29:20 UTC

Can't still exist...

2018-11-03 06:29:33 UTC

it's funny because this is what internationalism leads to

2018-11-03 06:29:36 UTC

your own people are starving

2018-11-03 06:29:41 UTC

I would be imagined of my shock

2018-11-03 06:29:49 UTC

but hey, at least the people in Kazakhstan are apprciating communism and gibs

2018-11-03 06:30:01 UTC

Or, they were

2018-11-03 06:30:24 UTC

I tend to doubt any of those mid-Asian countries are faring well

2018-11-03 06:30:33 UTC

Man what a bad ass looking statue.

2018-11-03 06:30:56 UTC

WTF? How have I not seen *any* of this?

2018-11-03 06:31:04 UTC

can you imagine my shock?

2018-11-03 06:31:07 UTC

lol

2018-11-03 06:31:09 UTC

@Flint the stans are the only places on Earth you can go and escape tourism faggotry.

Most casuals will go to Vietnam or Italy. Only real weirdos hang out in the Stans.

2018-11-03 06:31:24 UTC

Imagine one of these with like George Washington

2018-11-03 06:31:33 UTC

@guacmerchant i think that was built later

2018-11-03 06:31:37 UTC

idk what STan is that

2018-11-03 06:31:43 UTC

but they have some Chad legends

2018-11-03 06:31:45 UTC

about warriros

2018-11-03 06:31:46 UTC

@Logan I get that, but it looks so pristine and clean and civil

2018-11-03 06:31:55 UTC

Turkmenistan believe it or not

2018-11-03 06:32:03 UTC

damn

2018-11-03 06:32:11 UTC

@Flint all are police states. It is rad

2018-11-03 06:32:13 UTC

And they let you infidels just walk around with your cameras?

2018-11-03 06:32:24 UTC

Rad like how? Safe? Secure?

2018-11-03 06:32:32 UTC

You are welcome there?

2018-11-03 06:32:51 UTC

I long to go to a place that is excited to see an American and I'm excited to be there.

2018-11-03 06:32:58 UTC

Welcoming & safe? Not interested

2018-11-03 06:33:15 UTC

I mean you can take photos of shit in Saudi Arabia as long as its not their holy city.

2018-11-03 06:33:18 UTC

Like, I miss the ages that people were excited to learn each other's differences

2018-11-03 06:33:23 UTC

customs, etc

2018-11-03 06:33:32 UTC

That's when travel seemed fun

2018-11-03 06:33:55 UTC

Do they speak English, did you hire an interpreter?

2018-11-03 06:33:59 UTC

Exactly THE TOURISTS WERENT SUPPOSE TO STAY FOREVER

2018-11-03 06:34:16 UTC

@Flint depends on which one. Kazakhstan was safe and orderly. Kyrgyzstan less so. Tajikistan was disorderly but safe because the people are not inclined toward violence despite their fairly recent civil war.

2018-11-03 06:34:27 UTC

I get the feeling it would be nicer to live somewhere homogeneously foreign like Japan than somewhere like here where my daily life is 20% white

2018-11-03 06:34:55 UTC

I guess I've only thought about visiting barren lands and never populated places with histories of great wars

2018-11-03 06:34:58 UTC

Muslim countries are pretty welcoming. They think you are going to hell and are uncivilized but they are friendly
