this isint a solution, its patching a hole in a ship being bombarded by cannonfire

2018-05-24 14:58:32 UTC

"views" isint a youtube origenal term, because it represents something fundumental to the concept of advertisment. it has existed in advertisment for centurys. and this whole creators finding their own sponsor thing will eventually have the issue of "veiws" come up

2018-05-24 14:58:40 UTC

youtube will control veiws

2018-05-24 14:59:07 UTC

when it controls veiws it controls your life on that platform unless you can sell something other than advertisment in ANY form

2018-05-24 14:59:48 UTC

sponsers are a new advertisment that is all and its not exempt from this problem, it just has time before it optomises for it

2018-05-24 15:01:07 UTC

the shit were seeing youtube implament right now is simply a slow form of shadow banning

2018-05-24 15:01:56 UTC

even merch wont save you if youtube wont let anyone watch you to buy it

2018-05-24 15:01:56 UTC

lets reiterate a problem. or parts of a problem:

1) alt websites get like no views. which means extra work, time taken away from making videos, for potential no return
2) youtube can control if you get money from ads
3) youtube can control how easy it is to find your video
4) having all your eggs in one basket is never a good idea
5) Revenue is a combination of views and ads
6) views is a combo of number of videos, and quality/content of the videos

miss any of the major points?

2018-05-24 15:03:33 UTC

I had the idea a long time ago that would take power from youtube

2018-05-24 15:03:39 UTC

you just need an aggregator

2018-05-24 15:03:45 UTC

to replace their "subscription"

2018-05-24 15:03:54 UTC

maybe a 7) alt websites will get more veiws when they have people others want to see there on their platform

2018-05-24 15:04:17 UTC

there's no way to compete with youtube as a platform

2018-05-24 15:04:26 UTC

but as they change the way people find videos

2018-05-24 15:04:33 UTC

there is a need for an aggregator site

2018-05-24 15:04:50 UTC

did you see the changes on the subscription box now?

2018-05-24 15:05:02 UTC

i agree, i kinda think thats why the whole channal awesome thing wasent a bad idea in concept, just had shit people behind it

2018-05-24 15:05:05 UTC

subscription box? time the proposed changes to the subfeed

2018-05-24 15:05:15 UTC

(nvm, the video from h3h3 is above ๐Ÿ˜‚ )

2018-05-24 15:05:20 UTC

exactly

2018-05-24 15:05:27 UTC

THis may have already said but I have seen a number of non-political/non-controversial You Tube posters (TheReportOfTheWeek who does mainly fast food restaurant reviews and Sailing SV Delos who do sailboating videos), also complain about the way that YT is going.

2018-05-24 15:05:28 UTC

hence the conversation lmao

2018-05-24 15:05:51 UTC

everyones complaining about youtube

2018-05-24 15:05:57 UTC

everyone is complaining

2018-05-24 15:05:59 UTC

bingo

2018-05-24 15:06:05 UTC

@Chijohnaok youtube is screwing everyone, for reasons people can't figure out aside from political bias

2018-05-24 15:06:22 UTC

the subs and bells are shit

2018-05-24 15:06:44 UTC

the solution I'm doing is removing less relevant youtubers

2018-05-24 15:06:47 UTC

@.B aggregator site?

2018-05-24 15:06:53 UTC

because the ones I most watch are disappearing from my feed

2018-05-24 15:06:59 UTC

Doing so would seem counterproductive to the long term well being of YT but they wouldn't be the first company to shoot themselves in the foot

2018-05-24 15:07:32 UTC

honestly i havent had any problem with my subbox

2018-05-24 15:08:01 UTC

i can't help but feel youtube is trying to tackle political problems and then getting everyone caught in their crossfire, leading to more problems.

2018-05-24 15:08:05 UTC

i know some people talk about being unsubbed or not seeing videos in their sub (which i sometimes have seen with metokur videos)

2018-05-24 15:08:05 UTC

@Grenade123 imagine I do I site where you can subscribe creators, and I show you your sub box. But when you watch the video it's on youtube, the site works just as an aggregator

2018-05-24 15:08:15 UTC

but most of the time im not having any problems

2018-05-24 15:08:36 UTC

@.B how does the aggregator site make money to keep itself online

2018-05-24 15:08:55 UTC

content creators have to pay to use it

2018-05-24 15:09:06 UTC

ads, an aggregator site is cheap to keep up anyway

2018-05-24 15:09:14 UTC

or that

2018-05-24 15:09:41 UTC

I'm going to Japan in 1 week. When I settle I might work on that

2018-05-24 15:09:59 UTC

though i dont think it would be all that unatractive for content creators to pay a small amount to use it

2018-05-24 15:10:04 UTC

Matt Drudge/Drudge Report is probably one of the "biggest" aggregators that I am aware of

2018-05-24 15:10:06 UTC

though I'm getting a lot of offers related to Blockchain ๐Ÿค”

2018-05-24 15:10:37 UTC

maybe work on a two fold approach. make an aggregator site for viewing, and one for uploading. Maybe charge for the uploader, run adds on the aggregator

2018-05-24 15:10:44 UTC

@Arch-Fiend you can't promote an aggregator initially if you asks for people to pay it

2018-05-24 15:10:52 UTC

do ads work on embedded views from youtube?

2018-05-24 15:11:03 UTC

alright

2018-05-24 15:11:09 UTC

it also reduces the value of YT's subscription, as the aggregator subs rise in relevance

2018-05-24 15:11:38 UTC

if you make it one button click to upload a video to say youtube and bitchute at the same time, and the tool handles filling out descriptions and title boxes, all that jazz

2018-05-24 15:11:41 UTC

I wouldn't do it embedded

2018-05-24 15:12:09 UTC

the idea is simply to fix the subscription problem and visibility of what people want to see

2018-05-24 15:12:25 UTC

so i need to visit one site, just to then go visit another site?

2018-05-24 15:13:01 UTC

that's what an aggregator is, pretty much

2018-05-24 15:13:20 UTC

why not skip the middle man? i mean, part of the problem is that subs don't know they have missed a video, and so long as you can still go to a person page and look at the last upload (which may soon not work on youtube), why would i go to this other site?

2018-05-24 15:13:22 UTC

Science has proven it

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/398973785426100234/449228424217624588/0082fb545e87d7202026023cafda30b4.jpeg

2018-05-24 15:13:27 UTC

remember, people are lazy

2018-05-24 15:13:35 UTC

too many clicks and people get annoyed

2018-05-24 15:13:45 UTC

UI design 101

2018-05-24 15:13:55 UTC

@Grenade123 if you have 50 subs, do you go to their channels one by one?

2018-05-24 15:14:06 UTC

I don't

2018-05-24 15:14:25 UTC

see the only problem i have with an aggregator is do people even know what they are anymore? like the idea is to fight the hidding of content on youtube by youtube, and youtube isint just where videos are uploaded but its also the biggest aggregator for videos in the world besides like the video section on google when you search. so how does an aggragator actually increase growth? advertising the aggragator?

2018-05-24 15:15:01 UTC

the idea was just to fix the visibility issue

2018-05-24 15:15:11 UTC

not the ad revenue

2018-05-24 15:15:24 UTC

yeah i just asked about the visibility issue

2018-05-24 15:15:54 UTC

depending on the volume of people in the aggregator, it can start paying creators for viewers that come from there

2018-05-24 15:16:22 UTC

the main way aggragators work is sub sharing

2018-05-24 15:16:32 UTC

@Deadpool Bruce Jenner proved that already i believe, becoming wamen of the year

2018-05-24 15:16:45 UTC

`1) alt websites get like no views. which means extra work, time taken away from making videos, for potential no return
2) youtube can control if you get money from ads
3) youtube can control how easy it is to find your video
4) having all your eggs in one basket is never a good idea
5) Revenue is a combination of views and ads
6) views is a combo of number of videos, and quality/content of the videos
7) alt sites will, hopefully grow but will do so slowly`

if we can making it easier to maintain 2 or more video upload sites, that should help solve the rest of these problems i would think. anyone agree?

2018-05-24 15:17:31 UTC

you should add a 8) that actually says what i said before because what i said before was actually very accurate

2018-05-24 15:17:37 UTC

followed by the visibility issue we could be handled with the same tool by promoting on things like twitter and other places all at once

2018-05-24 15:17:56 UTC

it would remedy it a bit atleast,
but if you're always gonna upload on youtube regardless, not many people will cross over to alt-sites

2018-05-24 15:18:45 UTC

but subsharing doesent actually increase the bulk subscribers the entire section of people youve agragated together except that their veiws go up and hopefuly that has ramafications on youtube, but the fact that it doesent is the problem

2018-05-24 15:18:46 UTC

@Arch-Fiend i modified it because this was a list of problems, and that wasn't really a problem but a solution.

2018-05-24 15:18:56 UTC

oh sorry then

2018-05-24 15:19:09 UTC

i thought it was just a list of factors

2018-05-24 15:19:38 UTC

@Dr.Wol true. but youtube will do the work of making it so you can't view stuff on youtube for you.

2018-05-24 15:19:45 UTC

just make a program that automatically uploads to any site/account you add to it

Kind of like how OBS uploads a stream to a certain link

2018-05-24 15:20:02 UTC

so you can add like 4-5 hosting sites, and the program automatically does it for you every time

2018-05-24 15:20:30 UTC

@Arch-Fiend "list of a problem, or parts of the problem." but no worries

2018-05-24 15:22:07 UTC

@Dr.Wol thats what i was thinking. Add youtube, twitter, facebook, bitchute, and minds to it. You upload a video, it goes to bitchute and youtube, then automatically posts links to it on twitter, facebook and minds. something like that

2018-05-24 15:22:19 UTC

yes

2018-05-24 15:22:34 UTC

2018-05-24 15:22:35 UTC

now the only problem is website APIs

2018-05-24 15:24:02 UTC

but we could, in theory, make this an open source tool. no need to charge money if people work on it for their own benefit, and there is no real maintain costs unlike a website which needs to pay a server.

2018-05-24 15:25:11 UTC

so its free for creators, which means they have no reason not to use it, assuming we keep login credentials safe. which means how to save that info locally, or make them login to all the sites every time (not exactly a user friendly way to do things)

2018-05-24 15:26:42 UTC

well, most social media sites have API's to connect to other things,

like all those "share this video" buttons

2018-05-24 15:27:00 UTC

right, i'm more concerned about the upload api

2018-05-24 15:27:12 UTC

youtube has one, its easy to find. let me look for bitchute

2018-05-24 15:27:37 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/398973785426100234/449232009433186306/248159.jpg

2018-05-24 15:28:02 UTC

might work better if i knew anime

2018-05-24 15:28:05 UTC

seems like bitchute doesn't have an official api yet

2018-05-24 15:29:15 UTC

not surprising, usually APIs start out as communities reverse engineering things, sometimes with support from the companies until its large enough that the leg work is done, then the company just maintains it from there

2018-05-24 15:29:18 UTC

not uncommon

2018-05-24 15:29:22 UTC

@Deadpool Good to see you're getting around.
