2018-03-22 18:36:51 UTC

just don't let uber of all companies try stuff like that, would help.

2018-03-22 18:39:00 UTC

I guess 'prevent' was a bad choice of word, but at the same time it is kind of possible. Like, if the street were more well-lit, if she didn't walk across the street at that exact moment or just looked, if the guy was paying attention and not on his phone, etc.

2018-03-22 18:39:28 UTC

Although, on the other hand, what is the point of cars that drive themselves if you have to pay attention to your surroundings anyway?

2018-03-22 18:39:39 UTC

If you make something "idiot proof" the universe will just invent a better idiot

2018-03-22 18:39:42 UTC

One of the points is to be a passenger and be able to do other things while on the road.

2018-03-22 18:40:44 UTC

Other than GPS purposes because you don't know your way around an area, having to pay attention to your surroundings and being alert on the road in a self-driving car is pointless. There's no reason for it at that point.

2018-03-22 18:41:01 UTC

and even then

2018-03-22 18:41:05 UTC

gps is based on moving satellites

2018-03-22 18:41:10 UTC

and vehicles

2018-03-22 18:41:16 UTC

so a mis caclulation is quite possible

2018-03-22 18:41:26 UTC

GPS is also inaccurate at a certain scale

2018-03-22 18:41:29 UTC

yes

2018-03-22 18:41:42 UTC

especially at the "this cna hurt a human if wrong" scale

2018-03-22 18:41:51 UTC

Not even taking into account how frequently the maps need to be updated.

2018-03-22 18:42:03 UTC

I was even going to say that

2018-03-22 18:42:27 UTC

but the pedestrian wasn't exactly paying attention themselves, it just becomes natural selection anyway at that point

2018-03-22 18:43:11 UTC

Which was my very first point, yeah lol.
"Not crossing the street without looking?"

2018-03-22 18:43:52 UTC

guess god didn't have a plan for her

2018-03-22 19:24:47 UTC

the point of self driving cars is for them to have sensors that pick up things that a human driver would miss and act accordingly which makes traffic safer. or you could be uber and have no clue what you are doing.

2018-03-22 21:06:57 UTC

i don't quite understand why people are so against Uber testing out self driving cars. Is it just because they are a shitty company? because while i believe that, i don't see how uber is any different than say a start up. You'd have to look at the money and structure of that part of the company to say they are not really equipped from making that

2018-03-22 21:07:28 UTC

Tim I think you're naive to think that there isn't anyone at Youtube that thinks they're doing the right thing regarding removing the guns videos or being dumb in general

2018-03-22 21:07:36 UTC

i dont trust them to be responsible with anything

2018-03-22 21:10:12 UTC

Well, fair enough. But I mean, I don't trust Google any more with self driving cars.

2018-03-22 21:12:58 UTC

I don't think we're ready for self driving cars

2018-03-22 21:13:09 UTC

they aren't ready and humans will get complacent expecing them to be 100%

2018-03-22 21:14:53 UTC

which is why the person in the uber car didn't react.. wasn't paying attention

2018-03-22 21:18:19 UTC

google is more concerned with their image than uber.

2018-03-22 22:09:55 UTC

@LotheronPrime did you watch the video? I don't think I would have reacted quickly enough to grab the wheel.

2018-03-22 22:57:31 UTC

@Grenade123 yeah look earlier, I said I'm not sure how uber can be at fault here

2018-03-22 23:15:39 UTC

I'd say Ubers only failure is not being better than a human there. And while there is probably some improvements that could be made, I think any self driving car that doesn't preform worse than a human in any given instance should get the go ahead.

2018-03-22 23:25:37 UTC

Press F to pay respects.

2018-03-23 00:34:34 UTC

A WHITE MALE?

2018-03-23 00:41:58 UTC

FUCKING A WHITE MALE!

2018-03-23 02:44:50 UTC

And with that, the first amendment means jack shit in America

2018-03-23 06:51:13 UTC
2018-03-23 14:09:06 UTC

You aussie right? When will the govt there start taking them in?

2018-03-23 14:09:20 UTC

And how is the public reaction to this so far?

2018-03-23 14:09:31 UTC

I heard Ausland takes in alot of refugees.

2018-03-23 21:27:28 UTC

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg has no issue with infringing on the 2nd Amendment rights of an entire nation but when the 1st Amendment rights of one high school are infringed he has a problem. https://hotair.com/archives/2018/03/23/gun-control-activist-david-hogg-draws-line-clear-backpacks/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TJObNzyc8M

2018-03-23 21:39:32 UTC

prolly cuz he's naive enough to believe only the government should need guns to protect and secure the 1st

2018-03-23 21:39:42 UTC

thats why you don't listen to children

2018-03-23 23:35:51 UTC

Hogg has said several times hes pro 2a

2018-03-23 23:44:25 UTC

that seems counter intuitive

2018-03-23 23:56:18 UTC

His 'pro2a' would have me with muskets

2018-03-23 23:56:26 UTC

he doesn't want to 'take the guns'

2018-03-23 23:56:33 UTC

just most of them.

2018-03-23 23:57:06 UTC

"i'd don't want to take all your guns, just the ones that can fire 100 rounds a minute"

2018-03-23 23:57:20 UTC

which would actually be all but muskets

2018-03-23 23:57:39 UTC

Certainly there are folks that draw different lines on things, one person thinks it's OK to yell 'fire' in a crowded building, another makes an exception for such things

2018-03-23 23:59:22 UTC

but generally the cultural folks who claim they're 'pro2a' folks while spouting anti-AR15 stuff are generally not actually pro2a in any real context since they want to place extreme limitations based on form, not function, of weapons.

2018-03-23 23:59:40 UTC

They're the people who think DC vs heller was a film.

2018-03-24 00:00:08 UTC

probably think its a comic book crossover

2018-03-24 00:00:13 UTC

People still fervently clinging onto the 60's redefinition of the second amendment thanks to the boomer generation

2018-03-24 00:00:21 UTC

"X is not a militia"

2018-03-24 00:00:39 UTC

"I support a militia! but that kid totally does not need an AR-15 to kill hajis in the desert"

2018-03-24 00:01:08 UTC

yeah, that's a good one; I was going for superhero but I should have gone comic book.

2018-03-24 00:01:30 UTC

"Realist" pro2a folks are fine with:

2018-03-24 00:01:47 UTC

1) NICS being used

2018-03-24 00:02:11 UTC

A lot of people seem to forget that 'banning semi-automatic weapons' is virtually all of our modern guns, which even can technically include revolvers.

2018-03-24 00:02:44 UTC

Gotta keep fucking weapons out of nutjobs hands; and generally it doesn't affect anyone significantly unless you get waiting periods like CA that do absolutely nothing.

2018-03-24 00:02:55 UTC

it would include revolvers that don't require pulling back the hammer

2018-03-24 00:03:01 UTC

Generally they want CC reciprocity since there are problems

2018-03-24 00:03:13 UTC

State to state shit gets seriously weird.

2018-03-24 00:03:32 UTC

Generally they support the NRA, which itself was willing to pander to so much fucking red tape

2018-03-24 00:03:52 UTC

double action revolvers are semi-auto

2018-03-24 00:03:58 UTC

sorta

2018-03-24 00:03:59 UTC

lol

2018-03-24 00:04:18 UTC

If there is one thing I do think should be a requirement, it's needing to notify someone after you've personally sold a firearm yourself to someone else, possibly the ATF or something like that. We already are required to notify the DMV when we sell or transfer our vehicle to another person, so why not firearms?

2018-03-24 00:04:33 UTC

Just force all PPT's to go through FFL's

2018-03-24 00:04:56 UTC

The ATF is explicitly forbidden from creating a database of all firearms owners

2018-03-24 00:05:02 UTC

single action revolvers require cocking the hammer before firing, double action will fire a round with every trigger pull, so i would think that only double action counts as semi-auto

2018-03-24 00:05:25 UTC

I was just using it an an example.

2018-03-24 00:05:36 UTC

Whatever agency handles the registration of firearms.

2018-03-24 00:05:40 UTC

I think washington is a decent example of how shit happens

2018-03-24 00:06:05 UTC

But I mean, even then this is going to stop maybe 10 out of hundreds of firearms deaths per year

2018-03-24 00:07:12 UTC

no bump stock ban or whatever is going to do shit to cut down the gun violence

2018-03-24 00:07:17 UTC

Yeah. You can write all the firearms regulations and laws that you want, but if they're not actually being enforced then it means nothing. Florida proved this: it was a systematic failure on almost every level, and if even one party involved had done their job properly, the shooting would have been prevented or minimized.

2018-03-24 00:07:58 UTC

Kids in compton and chicago will still get their "brothas" to give them straw purchased handguns that they'll then use to kill some other person

2018-03-24 00:08:58 UTC

If they wanted to seriously cut down on crime they would remove every handgun from every household that does not have a concealed carry permit and then replace it with a semi automatic rifle

2018-03-24 00:09:07 UTC

something affordable like an AR

2018-03-24 00:09:16 UTC

something not concealable.

2018-03-24 00:09:38 UTC

In large cities; not everywher

2018-03-24 00:09:54 UTC

gotta love the police chief. His officers do jack shit, then he blames guns for his failure

2018-03-24 00:09:56 UTC

Because it seems to just be the cities that are plagued with this.

2018-03-24 00:10:05 UTC

Because criminals are so keen on respecting laws, right?

2018-03-24 00:10:06 UTC

Police chief wiggum

2018-03-24 00:10:35 UTC

Oh; I'm not saying it'll be easy or that you'll get all of them or even most of them

2018-03-24 00:10:44 UTC

then, not too long later, a different school with a different resource officer proves that it was his officer's fault without a doubt by stopping a school shooter

2018-03-24 00:11:06 UTC

eeyup. <:eeyup:327220779576066049>

2018-03-24 00:11:18 UTC

I just think that'd be an actual step forward in terms of cutting down the hundreds of inner city handgun deaths

2018-03-24 00:11:21 UTC

Which doesn't get *nearly* the coverage that the Florida shooting does.

2018-03-24 00:11:28 UTC

Because it doesn't fit the left's narrative.

2018-03-24 00:11:33 UTC

It still sucks; IMO they should just arm everyone in the inner city.

2018-03-24 00:11:51 UTC

Welcome to chicago, here's your high point and your CCW card

2018-03-24 00:12:00 UTC

have 100 rounds on me.

2018-03-24 00:12:03 UTC

Have a good day.

2018-03-24 00:12:30 UTC

just like the texas church shooting didn't get much coverage
