biggest scuptures in the country
My pictures always suck.
Fort Worth is packed with hot chicks.
the colors are nice
I was thinking about driving to Dallas to fly home...
Could have done without the street lamp in the foreground but otherwise great pic. The bridge does the work.
Do it. DFW is easy peasy.
Now I'm getting critiqued
Hahaha
That's what I'm thinking I don't want to fly out of some regional airport to Dallas.
How long of a drive?
Three and a half hours
It's too extra hours maybe more than that with the connection
Zuluzeit are you in Fort Worth?
Fort Worth is 3.5 hours away .
I am in Illinois. I go to Dallas often for work
I live in Dallas
Arlington, actually. Saying Dallas is easier.
but am from the Chicago area
ahhh Arlinton is the other side kinda in between Dallas and Forth Worth
> Fort Worth is 3.5 hours away .
@busillis Tough call. Six of one, half dozen of the other, imo. Probably would puddle jump tho. I'm lazy.
It seems like everything is 3.5 hours...
I used to be New York
Damn I should just fly out of Oklahoma City
I'm about as far away from Chicago while still being in Cook County as you can be.
There is Love Field and DFW some people like Love field but Arlington is probably closer to DFW
I'm going to Amarillo
It's only 109 mi and I don't get a direct flight
Ohhh like Palla Dura Canyon... 2nd largest conyon in US?
I'm an idiot.
for 109 miles I would drive
Where is that canyon cuz someone that rented this Airbnb before me left review that talked about that I think?
just south of Amillo
Right....
you drive up and it drops down.... so i hear
The hotel situation out here sucks big time...
I am of the opinion these canyons were made by catastrophic flooding like glacial flooding
A hotel that could be decent cost more money than staying at the Hilton just about anywhere else.
It's nuts
nice sky
I'm lucky everywhere I go has a Hilton.
New Mexico sky
Went to New Mexico in 2018. Loved it.
Grew up here.
Funny Paris says the same.
Meow Wolf and VLA were my favorite.
But I had to reject the accommodations in Santa Fe and stay in Albuquerque. Santa Fe was...unpleasant.
Santa Fe is where the snobs live
At least alot of them
Albuquerque was much better.
Hehe I agree but I am biased
@Darkangael, you just advanced to level 10!
I was really digging on those honey tortilla things. I miss that.
The dog is one of my chihuahuas she is a total wiggle butt
Sopapillas are heaven
Shelooks nonplussed, like you disturbed her.
She didn't want to take a picture
Yes! Sopapillas.
They aren't that hard to make either
You should also try the Indian fry bread
Trust me, I'd find a way to screw it up.
Lol flour water salt fat fry
I'm pretty sure my stove works. No reason to believe it doesn't but it's pretty much just ornamental at this point.
Lol
Can you boil water? Preferably without burning it lol
That's what microwaves are for?
Hahaha yeah I've been able to pull off that culinary feat under perfect conditions.
Lol
Well then you have a good chance of pulling off Sopas
I order food most times. Otherwise I have prodigious dried and canned food, in the event of the apocalypse.
Fan of dump meals. Dump it in the crockpot leave it on low, leave it on high, dump it on a plate.
50-ish restaurants deliver to my neighborhood and not one of them has New Mexico food.
I have heard great things about crock pots. Maybe one day.
Then I'll have to call a maid service to do the dishes. Cheaper to just buy food from a restaurant.
Maybe.
I mean the insert that cooks the food is dishwasher washable.
When you start comparing prices in the grocery store versus what you get at a restaurant then you calculate the time you spend it's cheaper to buy it in a restaurant if your time is valuable.
All the time I save I squander it away on discord.
I love cooking but hate dishes. So I Definitely understand the appeal of restaurants but also delivery fees add up.
My laziness has no price tag too prohibitive.
My L3 And L4 are fractured and my foot is broken so I canโt drive yet.
So delivery is a godsend.
That's where I am.
ouch
How'd you get hurt? Protest.
Lol
Car wreck. Two lumbar, two ribs, one fifth metatarsal all typically not operated on so long recovery.
I wish. It kept me from the protest.
Good God...
I like to cook plus I really can't afford to eat out much
I just got out of the boot last month.
It is so much fun until I chop serranos and have an itch on my face!
I wanted to go too but no caregiver to take my place
Oh goodness. Bless you and what you do.
I am glad you weren't hurt worse been in a really bad car wreck myself. Had 135 stitches and was basically scalped but could have been way worse since I was thrown from and rolled over by a 1 ton van
Caregivers have a special place in my heart. The best I have met are unbelievably caring and trustworthy.
It's hard for me to envision something I would feel strongly enough about (and figure it would make a difference) to go protest.
I am glad you are here.
Appreciate it.
That must have been a nightmare.
Still have issues 20+ years after the fact
I think that is more common than people think. Itโs hard to predict long term issues down the road right after a wreck and if things are not obviously wrong they get overlooked.
Donโt judge me. I donโt like going places alone and would have to find someone to go with me.
Agreed
more fun to go with someone
I probably would have found a family of five once there and clung to them.
rent a room with a family?
That was another thing. I didnโt want to go and not have anywhere to stay or freak out because I didnโt know anyone and I would have to carry a chair with me and I didnโt want to explain that my back is broken. Having one person would have been worth it.
Tf you going to do with a public transportation bus?
Ride it to dc protests.
I want to convert one of those buses into like a place to live ..
But I can't drive a bus legally.
busses are expensive
That's a government surplus bus.
and space is tight like a boat... or mini house
My boss has like a Mercedes van RV...
How hard would it be to get a license for it
That's pretty cool.
You take a written test and get a CDL permit...
But then the driving part is with the actual truck that requires a CDL or bus or whatever...
Hire a driver/valet/PA. I like where you're going with this.
I was thinking about just hiring a driver to drive it to where it's going..
Then you have to figure all that crap out...
Nothing's ever easy...
...
I'm staying like 40 minutes away from that Memphis place...
That place is nuts they told me not to drive there to get a room 150 mi away and I didn't listen...
The best hotel was gross.
Yup. Every dream of mine dies on the vine cuz hassle, man.
I mean they're talking about getting everybody RVs but...
Then you got to find a place to park that shit...
Do RVs have a long lifespan?
Not in Nashville.
It's cheaper than staying in airbnbs...
Lots of RV parks outside pigeon forge and gatlinburg. I thought that was how all tourist cities were
Boondocking by the ATT building
The chances of me going to pigeon forge are probably less than zero...
Maybe...
I just assumed places were like that.
Right but where I am now there aren't any RV parks
This is God forsaken
I was lucky to find this Airbnb....
There's like living in the cattle bunkhouse....
Camping places and the next one is like 250 mi away...
Oh my gosh. That is unbelievable. Iโm not familiar with RV parking rules.
Everywhere I have to go is in a major city, except Reno. I dish that one off to a person who enjoys that kind of thing.
I don't know if I could survive 3 months wherever the hell that is.
Hahaha enjoy.
I might get eaten by prairie dogs.
can you fold it up like luggage?
Torn apart by Coyotes m
That is a bit more isolated than I prefer
I wonder what the bathroom situation is???
Would like to own enough property to not be able to see my nearest neighbor if I didn't want to
But would like something greener than that
Itโs the silver thing between the beds
And the wall
Thatโs THe toilet
@Livingstone depends how well maintained they are
Defecating in a garbage can..
@Darkangael those are the neighbors..
I mean I donโt think anybody would complain if you went outside.
Clearly the neighbors would not mind.
Want to still have a neighbor
That's true but it's freezing outside.
That place didn't seem like a practical choice not to mention I have a internet connectivity requirement...
I want to be able to go out in the buff if I wanted without a complaint
Amen. Iโm pretty sure thatโs the dream.
I do require internet
Good internet
I go on my back deck with just a robe or a T-shirt. Havenโt gotten a complaint yet.
Lol
I donโt know if I could do farm like life. I could definitely do moonshine cabin life though.
Granny passed down an old cookbook on how to make turtles soup, skin a possum, and other weird cooking things.
@Livingstone that kind of moonshine?
That was MARVELOUS
Yes. That kind of moonshine. I donโt drink it. But if it can turn a profit I wonโt complain.
Very good to know. Apparently I know many currently breaking the law.
A few of those things tacked on you got 20 years...
God...
Tennessee may have legalized moonshine making on a certain scale.
Apparently it is legalish you can manufacture up to $2,500 gallons for $100 license.
A distillery license is 1000. Less than tuition.
> I wonder what the bathroom situation is???
@busillis Bathroom situation:
That's pretty hardcore...
Have used those as primary toilet situation it stinks
Looks like what I lived in when I was in Iraq and Afghanistan...
Lol yut
Newsweek: Author Don Winslow Offers $20,000 Reward to Find Capitol Officer Who Posed for Selfie with Rioters.

@WatchingYouDaily, you just advanced to level 5!
Hey question... I'm not looking for a debate on this, but am really curious if anyone knows. I haven't been able to find it... Does anyone know what the offending tweets were that got Trump banned from Twitter? I know they deleted some of his tweets, but does anyone know what they said? I'm just curious if there is any place he specifically called for what happened, or if it was more of one of those... 'yeah, but people knew what he meant' things
My guess is the storming of the Capital was the excuse to ban Trump. They wanted him gone for four years.
Agreed. But I'm wondering if anyone is siting a specific message, on Twitter or otherwise. I can't find anything where he tells people to do that. So, is it all implied? Is this like the "fine people on both sides" thing where it was taken out of context? I'm not condoning Trump's message, I think it was bad form to say things the way he did, but I also think there's a huge difference between implying something if you read between the lines and actually telling people to break into the capitol building.
Have you noticed how there has NEVER been a denial from ANYONE of the criminal conduct of the rioters in our major cities over the summer? More than that, what about the hundreds of "politicians"? Ever hear one deny they supported that criminal behavior? Give me a break cancel culture
people on parler have been posting guides on how install the app on Android by circumventing the google play store
When Trump was talking to the crowd he was saying we could only take the country back by strength they need to go the capital everything was stolen.
The inciting tweet was that Pence had failed to just seize the election for him resulting in the mob rioting chanting โHang Mike Penceโ he was already stashed by secret service they couldnโt find him.
He posted two messages urging not to attack police. Then he decided to instead fire everyone up instead with a video response saying โgo homeโbut also you are right etc. this is the transcript. This caused ban
โI know your pain. I know youโre hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election, and everyone knows it, especially the other side.
But you have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order. We have to respect our great people in law and order. We donโt want anybody hurt. Itโs a very tough period of time.
Thereโs never been a time like this where such a thing happened where they could take it away from all of us โ from me, from you, from our country. This was a fraudulent election.
But we canโt play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace. So go home. We love you. Youโre very special. Youโve seen what happens. You see the way others are treated โ that are so bad and so evil. I know how you feel, but go home and go home in peace."
Iโm assuming you didnโt mean the tweets he made after the 12 hour ban because those are posted but if you missed round 2 https://blog.twitter.com/en_us/topics/company/2020/suspension.html
How do we rectify video of Trump Supporters being blocked from one entrance, and then a group being escorted by Security in through the side entrance?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/01/09/us/officer-crushed-capitol-riot-video/index.html
Trump has his supporters in law enforcement? He did say that 110% had endorsed him.
Security leadership asked for a show of hands of who were Trump supports and who werenโt... and then split them up into groups and sent them to different entrances?
Iโll have to think about that one a bit more...
It was out of context or not fast enough response according to the media also they deleted his messages
It will be interesting to find out what the thinking was. There is that one woman who was killed as the crowd trampled her. Concerns about this happening may have been part of the decision making process. If they prevented them from coming and and if there were tens of thousands of people surging to get in, there could have been many more death by suffocation or trampling. That is often the case when crowds surge against an immovable barrier. It's just another possibility - to relieve crowd pressure.
I did that last night. I can post a little tutorial on it if you want later on.
We need to think of some local and state laws in the coming months to help protect us from retribution from the federal government. I'd like to know if anyone had any ideas, to help protect against the IRS being used as a political weapon.
Oh yeah that IRS always political ๐
> Oh yeah that IRS always political ๐
@Dedkraken it can and has been used that way in the past.
Pretty rare until Nixon thus the safeguards put in place to stop it
> Pretty rare until Nixon thus the safeguards put in place to stop it
@Dedkraken whatever safeguards put in place, are welcome, but not sufficient. And it's clear we can rely or fully trust the federal government. I was thinking about Obama's IRS going after right leaning non profits.
@silverquill5555, you just advanced to level 2!
The IRS went after political nonprofits violating tax law. Neither Obama nor right wing had much to do with it
> The IRS went after political nonprofits violating tax law. Neither Obama nor right wing had much to do with it
@Dedkraken I'm sure that was completely legit just like the 2020 election ๐. ๐
Those groups cannot legally participate in political activity. They were doing so. These are things the IRS should be enforcing. Never an iota of evidence was presented that Obama somehow targeted the right. The IRS canโt let tax cheats get away just because they arenโt from the presidents party. Laws must still be upheld for both parties

@Dedkraken actually they can. Political organizations can file for tax exempt status, and they do this all the time.
So this litigation was ongoing during the Obama administration and into the Trump administration.
In October 2017, the Trump Administration agreed to settle a lawsuit filed on behalf of more than four hundred conservative nonprofit groups who claimed that they had been discriminated against by the Internal Revenue Service for an undisclosed amount described by plaintiffs' counsel as "very substantial." The Trump Administration also agreed to settle a second lawsuit brought by forty-one conservative organizations with an apology and an admission from the IRS that subjecting them to "heightened scrutiny and inordinate delays" was wrongful.
There are also many other ways that the IRS can be used to Target individuals. Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Trump and other conservative individuals have faced perpetual, drawn out audits.
I don't really use parler but thanks
Do not confuse political activity and political organization. These are not the same things and not what I said. Political groups can file tax exempt parts for the purpose of social welfare. This does not include political activity of lobbying and campaigns. These groups were violating that law.
You leave out important details that the FBI looked into it and found zero evidence of enemy hunting. Further investigations revealed the IRS used political key words to find groups violating political tax laws 2004 onward it wasnโt even an Obama policy.
The difference was tea party groups breaking the law got their poor feelings hurt and whined about it to the news because they are entitled and feel above the law. Similar to Sean Rush and Trump that feel like they should be able to break the law and play victim when something is done. Pathetic really. Trump apologizing on behalf of Obama and giving them money isnโt evidence Obama did something wrong but rather that Trump did.
Thank you for sharing... I have to be honest, that seems a little weak to call inciting a riot
Spelling it out directly would be rather foolish. They told a bunch of crazed hyper partisan angry people for weeks Pence had the ability to just claim Trump won and if he didnโt he was betraying the country. Itโs not at all surprising they considered that tweet a call to action
Maybe, but let's just say this, it wouldn't hold up in court lol
That's the whole idea of dog whistles.
Plausible deniability. It worked.
Apparently. Lol
@ChairmanOfTheBored the claim that president trump "incited a riot/violence" is totally subjective
All of this is subjective. That seems to be the problem.
Anyone want to jump on voice ?
I can after dinner. Absolutely.
Agreed. Which leads me to ask, who gets to decide when it's subjective.
Everyone.
Cool. Rather use real words instead of text lol
Agreed
Half hour or so
I wanna hear what people think is a good way to address political violence going forward after a year in which we saw too much of it and little consistency in addressing it from our "leadership"

@Dedkraken not true. Treasury regulationsย interpreting this statutory language apply a more relaxed standard, namely, that the organization "is operated primarily for the purpose of bringing about civic betterments and social improvements". As a result, theย IRSย traditionally has permitted organizations described in IRC 501(c)(4) to engage in lobbying and political campaign activities if those activities are not the organization's primary activity.
