look at france, unions have been shown to be complicit with the state and powerful interest groups as soon as a roots movement sprung up
Until the unions got killed off.
Balance is key.
And checks and balances.
What if I want to form a counter-union?
Good luck
That's an employers union.
A union that fights against the current union?
They exist.
No, like, a union of employees, but they argue for different things than the first union.
Here in the US even if you don't join a union you have to give them money
The link to the labour movement, and mandatory voting are the two reasons Australia is marginally better than the US and UK right now.
I think there are situations where there are multiple unions. Not sure.
But I do know I've been well represented by my unions in my life.
I also know that there are thugs and mafia running other unions.
Compulsory unionism should be illegal.
And I believe is in AUstralia.
rando question : do you think the current state of politics in the us will bring change in that there will be a third, fourth, fifht party instead of the big two ?
I believe the system would make that very difficult.
It is set up for two sides.
I think the fact that AOC and her following are so batshit insane might mean that they would eventually split off and form their own party
Other systems are set up for multi-party government.
The American is not.
Someone who understands better will be able to fill in why.
Even Australia's system trends to 2 parties
even if one is the coalition, but basically one party
Your only option is to take over one of the existing parties, as Trump (not a conservative/neo-con) did, and as AOC's wing is trying to do.
UKIP in the UK and to a lesser extent Pauline Hanson in AU had success in the 2 party system that saw some policy or electoral gains
a two party system in the country so adamant about preventing tyranny seems so ironic
the thing is it isn't a 2 party system inherently, but it trends to form 2 parties
This is why I said "might mean."
Like no one gives a fuck about the libertarians like gary johnson "what is aleppo"
and whoever ran in the U S for the green party
But at the same time AOC is going so far left that it almost feels like there are two schools of thought, the regular Dems and the AOCrazy Dems
i think the influence of AOC is overblown
she won a heavily democrat district in new york, a dead body would've done the job for the dems
