Or the idea that if we pull out out troops it's the end of the war as if the war won't continue if we weren't there. Imagine that being the strategy to end WWII, if we just pull our troops out, the war magically ends! It's so bizarre but it's accepted like it's a fact
Simply by redefining something, the start of the war being our involvement or whatever, even if objectively the war went on way before we got involved, people start to believe it's true or, treat it that way even if subconsciously they know better. It's truly the Orwellian, the power of the manipulation of language. The Iraq war as started when Saddam began massacring the kurds and trying to invade other countries like Kuwait, not the day american boots arrived, and it won't end the day american boots pull out, as evidenced by Turkey and Iran trying to invade the various countries once we just announced we might pull out. A power vacuum, at no point in history has ever resulted in less violence or by itself ended a war. It's kind of absurd really the more you think about it.
It's not like when we pulled out of Vietnam, the war in Vietnam ended, millions of people were slaughtered by the Viet Cong. Or when we pulled out of Iran, that Iran became a magical Utopia. Or even when the British pulled out of India, Rhodesia, South Africa etc. that these countries after a major power vacuum suddenly became wonderful countries with no violence.
