If you can't get the round out then honestly jamming is the least of you're problems 🤔
Pretty sure you should still have a way to get the round out in a caseless gun

2018-07-07 11:43:23 UTC

A gun can miss fire for other reasons

2018-07-07 11:43:43 UTC

A bullet doesn't have to jam to stop a gun from functioning

2018-07-07 11:44:04 UTC

Light primer strike, bad propellant, bad primer

2018-07-07 11:47:55 UTC

@Baraban but again, if you're a soldier on the field, you want to be able to clear misfires in a jiffy.

2018-07-07 11:48:27 UTC

Still seems like that kind of stuff can be solved

2018-07-07 11:49:16 UTC

Not sure though. Maybe I'm just not knowledgeable enough regarding how this works

2018-07-07 12:25:30 UTC

Swords are more reliable than the firearm. Take it from Caesar's legion

2018-07-07 12:25:39 UTC

XD

2018-07-07 12:31:12 UTC

Ask the samurai on the other end of this gun.

2018-07-07 12:41:55 UTC

2018-07-07 12:42:02 UTC

this place is literal communism

2018-07-07 12:42:06 UTC

just liiink

2018-07-07 12:46:57 UTC

ask the samurai in this clip

2018-07-07 12:47:05 UTC

They've been trying to make good caseless ammo for over a 100 years

2018-07-07 16:39:23 UTC

@Baraban
Caseless will be probably the technology before energy ammo

2018-07-07 16:40:25 UTC

You mean electricity based?

2018-07-07 16:45:11 UTC

Yeah

2018-07-07 16:54:02 UTC

@Reaps They've been trying to make repeating guns for a lot longer than that

2018-07-07 16:54:56 UTC

In the end it still became far superior to one shot weapons

2018-07-07 17:08:54 UTC

@Baraban I think the main issue is heat transference. Currently the casing absorbs a lot of the heat and its ejection removes that heat from the gun, reducing the total thermal buildup inside the gun. Without the case to act as a heat sink, rapid fire becomes an even more serious overheating risk. Which is too bad, as one of the big advantages of caseless ammo is less time having to chamber and eject rounds/casings.

2018-07-07 17:44:43 UTC

^^ Brass is really good at absorbing heat. Imagine your breach literally melting with sustained fire after a short while...

The existence of this thread makes me happy. I shall visit here often.

2018-07-07 22:56:16 UTC

you know I wonder if there is a good case to be made for electronically fired ammunition

2018-07-07 23:20:16 UTC

How would that even work? Like a rail gun?

2018-07-08 00:36:09 UTC

I'd like to make a microwave gun. It just sounds like fun.
