LOCK HER UP! LOCK HER UP! LOCK HER UP! LOCK HER UP!
Not sure what to make of Trump's trade war. I don't buy the narrative pushed by the left media (and even some of the right) that this is all about Trump replacing the allies of the United States, preferring Russia and NK. Nor do I think that this attitude pushed by the Reagan Battalion is very fair either.
What I see going wrong, is that Trump has overestimated himself. In his own words, he claims to ultimately want no tariffs, no subsidies, and no barriers to trade. Achieving that, or something closer to that than before would be considered something like a victory. Of course, as of late we've only been moving farther from that. Again in Trump's words, he says we win this war "a thousand out of a thousand times".
So *my* fear is that these other countries simply never reduce tariffs, subsidies, and barriers back to a level at or below what they were before.
It really comes down to putting a *lot* of trust in Trump and the people in govt negotiating for us and I think most people don't like the sound of that...
Except Trump knows how to negotiate.
Yes, but nonetheless this is risky.
His solution seems to be solving a problem by first making the problem worse, no?
I havenโt done much research, but it sounds like Trump is pulling a lot of big moves to get his voters, especially the less educated of them, to vote for him again and vote in November for the GOP candidates. Letโs be honest, us Americans like the sound of higher wages for Americans(a championed hope for the trade war), and heโs preying on that to sway those who donโt have time to research.
I agree that he does like to create then solve problems, too. Controversy is his schtick
I'm just wondering... how high are the tariffs going to have to go before they start coming back down? How high is Trump willing to jack them up? And once they're so high up there, I would think it would only become harder and harder to get them back down.
As high as he can before it starts to fade from the news
He seems to be relying on being able to eventually sit down and agree to just wipe the slate clean and that sounds simply miraculous compared to the way reform usually goes.
Does trump is gay
If it's true what he said, farmers were moving to Canada because of the subsidies... It's only fair to tax them.
True, that does seem to be his gamble. Then again, he knows things we donโt. But he doesnโt care about the country (few politicians actually do), he cares about his power and fame, and keeping it.
True, he knows what sort of leverage the US has to work with.
