I just read an infuriating Op-ed on our main news network in Luxembourg (Insert, we are little and nobody cares joke...).
The main parts were the comparison between the Trump wall and the Berlin wall, there are Neonazis in the Yellow Vests, voters for Trump, Brexit, Bolsonaro, Duarte and Salvini (great mix btw) and eventually all people who voted for one of the aforementioned who aren't Nazis yet, will become Nazis over time! (no reason given as how that is the case)
Also in that piece are virtue signals how it is unfair that big football stars eat steaks with gold in them while some people don't have enough money in their pension and others can't afford gas price hikes while others find loopholes to register their private jets abroad.

That thing was pure regurgitated vomit converted into letters!

2019-01-10 16:37:58 UTC

The Berlin Wall split a country, rather than solidified a border. What a hack

2019-01-10 16:38:31 UTC

And if you want people to have less money, start by not giving them yours

2019-01-10 16:38:33 UTC

Any schoolkid who had a couple of history lessons can tell you that much!

2019-01-10 16:39:25 UTC

"Why do athletes make so much?"
Because you keep paying them, m8

2019-01-10 16:39:45 UTC

Honestly, it probably shows more about my own issues than anything else that I can get that made about a stupid article on a state funded broadcaster but this got me into a rage!

2019-01-10 16:42:15 UTC

Anybody else use Google Music and unable to play last night's call in show?

2019-01-10 20:34:42 UTC

What was the purpose behind the Wall of China?

2019-01-10 20:35:01 UTC

(I had zero interest in history as a child)

2019-01-10 20:38:36 UTC

Keep out Mongoloids

2019-01-10 22:09:51 UTC

Lol. Build me a scity wall to keep out all them Mongorians.

2019-01-10 23:18:33 UTC

Bear in mind, the Chinese wall was built over 1600 years.
It succeeded wildly in it secondary reason (keeping out general riffraff basically) and failed dismally in its primary one (keeping out major threats)
As in, not a single invasion from the north bothered with it.
If I know my premodern history, and mostly I do, temujins lot didnā€™t even know about it until they had missed finding it in the dark

2019-01-10 23:19:58 UTC

Minor correction: *Successful* invasion. The unsuccessful ones were by definition just riffraff and nobody noticed them.

2019-01-11 00:39:22 UTC

The primary reason for this wall is to keep out general riffraff though

2019-01-11 00:40:04 UTC

The main reason why the Great Wall failed in its primary one is more an issue of competency within the Chinese military more than a lack of adequacy on this barrierā€™s part

2019-01-11 00:40:56 UTC

Haha. No, trumpies wall is not to keep them out. Itā€™s to tell them not to try

2019-01-11 00:41:15 UTC

> trumpie

2019-01-11 00:41:19 UTC

_Uhhhhhh_

2019-01-11 00:41:24 UTC

Well fair enough

2019-01-11 00:41:49 UTC

Either way itā€™s a good first step

2019-01-11 00:42:04 UTC

Better would be clamping down on employers and handouts

2019-01-11 00:42:21 UTC

But that would require state cooperation which is gonna be a long haul

2019-01-11 00:49:26 UTC

I am not well versed in US state law, but I would think that would be an uphill battle vs entrenched corp interest

2019-01-11 00:49:52 UTC

Itā€™s an uphill battle everywhere

2019-01-11 00:50:05 UTC

Itā€™s easier down here because weā€™re surrounded by two oceans

2019-01-11 00:50:19 UTC

The threat of clamping down actually worked the same as clamping down

2019-01-11 00:50:43 UTC

Zacharylity)

2019-01-11 00:50:50 UTC

We should abolish the welfare state

2019-01-11 00:52:01 UTC

Anlam... donā€™t throw baby out with bath water. Welfare culture is good. Welfare state is bad

2019-01-11 00:54:21 UTC

One of the things I like about ā€œquietā€ islamists, actually - their giving ā€œnodeā€ is actually higher than western Christianity.
And I hold the latter in high respect, if not personal commitments

2019-01-11 00:59:49 UTC

Shows strong in-group preferences

2019-01-11 01:00:09 UTC

Virtue fosters freedom and not the other way around (paraphrasing Shapiro here)

2019-01-11 01:01:49 UTC

Shapiro is no particular friend of mine, but I pay very close attention when he speaks on US constitutional law.
But yeah, I would go for that.

2019-01-11 01:02:56 UTC

And I think in group preference is a good thing, as long as itā€™s of an effective size

2019-01-11 01:04:47 UTC

Switzerland is my best case study on cusp issues here. 400 year old experiment which hasnā€™t failed yet

2019-01-11 01:05:42 UTC

Islamic charity is a funny way to say convert or be beheaded.

2019-01-11 01:06:22 UTC

Theyā€™re charitable with their swords

2019-01-11 01:06:34 UTC

Welfare culture is just another way of saying a tight knit community which the left worked to and have to a large extent successfully undermined
