I got a good deal on chicken, but I'm doing keto and it has barely any fat and I'm on keto. How do eat massive amounts of chicken without messing up my macros?

I've had luck avoiding gluconeogenesis (protein being turned into sugar in the event of excess protein being in the body, pushing you out of keto) by keeping my protein at less try han 1g/lbs of bodyweight.

Chicken is fine, just make sure you're hitting your fat and carb goals. Cover it in butter and salt or olive oil and salt for some fat and electrolytes

Less than*

Also try going to bed before 3am. Haha

That's another issue I've been wanting to fix

2018-09-20 15:46:37 UTC

But it looks like the chicken will be fine. Thanks.

How long should I intermittently fast for?

2018-09-23 03:39:04 UTC

Is 8 hours enough? I could probably do less. Apparently some people do 12, lol. Isn't that just normal eating?

2018-09-23 03:39:57 UTC

Eat within a 6-8 hour window.

2018-09-23 03:41:41 UTC

Will 6 be much more effective than 8?

2018-09-23 03:53:57 UTC

8 hours?

2018-09-23 03:54:08 UTC

That's called going to sleep, nigga

2018-09-23 05:49:55 UTC

no lol

2018-09-23 05:50:15 UTC

I was taking about the period that I do eat

2018-09-23 05:50:32 UTC

I guess they was my fault for stating wrongly

2018-09-23 05:51:27 UTC

though I did also question what the point of a 12 hour fast is, because that literally just sounds like normal eating

2018-09-28 13:01:16 UTC

@Jacob skip breakfast, eat lunch at noon, dinner at 5-6, a snack if you want it before 8 pm and then sleep.

Does anyone have good resources on keto as far as a scientific oriented studies/articles, the subject in mind is 55+. I have been on and off this diet for ~4 months and seen really great success, but I've just followed general guides on broscience/youtube videos and I'd prefer something a bit more substantial for him to review before considering the diet.

2018-09-28 13:03:26 UTC

thanks @here

2018-09-28 13:26:42 UTC

@Deleted User - Mark Sisson is an OK resource for keto, though he verges on the "broscience" spectrum. Check out the archives on

Thank you

I think this is the right video, this lady is a M.D. and gives a well sourced defense of time restricted eating

Finally back in ketosis after last weekend's extreme cheat. Lesson learned. French fries maybe, coke definitely not.

Next cheat meal will probably be Defend the Rockies!

How long should I stay in keto for? I've already lost 16 pounds. Do I just stay until I'm satisfied with how much I've lost? Should I lose a bit more than I actually want to, since I'll probably gain some back? What do I do once I plateau?

2018-10-01 20:54:02 UTC

It's really up to you, I mean

2018-10-01 20:54:21 UTC

to my understanding you're not a huge weight already

2018-10-01 20:55:04 UTC

I'd say to do keto when cutting, and break from it in an attempt to gain muscle

2018-10-01 20:55:42 UTC

In not of the opinion that a perpetual state of anything is healthy

2018-10-01 21:12:17 UTC

Ya I'm not fat or anything, I just noticed I was gaining weight and wanted to reverse course before I do get fat. Also I wanted to lose as much fat as possible since I'll inevitably gain some while trying to gain muscle.

this title made laugh, but what do you guys think about the egg question? lol

2018-10-02 19:21:03 UTC

That's a lot of cholesterol

2018-10-02 19:21:13 UTC

I eat probably 6/day
