i want to write a story, i got a good idea for one

My idea is a dystopian futuristic Society where a common technology that every person has is a Shields that can stop any projectile moving above a certain speed meaning guns and lasers are useless. It would take place 50 years in the future and the main character would be in ex-military civilian who was falsely accused of a crime and the corrupt police would try to kill him and he would kill them in self-defense and it would be viewed as a Act of revolution and start an event that overthrows the government

So everyone would be using knives and swords and stuff.

Ask yourself about everything in that world, and start using those answers to come up with more questions

super bluntly, its kinda cliche, you'll have to get creative for it to work.

i was busy. Here's my expanded answer. Only you can decide if a story is worth pursuing. I'd go so far as to say barring really nasty stuff that no one should write, there are no bad story ideas. If that's the framework that speaks to you, get into it, flesh it out, give it your own unique spin.

I've actually thought of many ideas and how the story would play out, the most violent criminals would be sent to a gladiatorial arena to battle to the death and people could pay to rig the fight giving one person better weapons, the winner if not mortally wounded, could have their sentence renegotiated, different weapons and factions. guns wouldn't be completely useless because they could activate the shield and it would become a stationary solid object and be near unbreakable but they cannot move temporarily for like half a second so some skilled people could use a knife and gun to stun and execute people and other things like that.

mercenaries working for the government, exosuits to enhance strength and utilize large/heavy weapons more effectively but limiting mobility. a lone bounty hunter with a unique energy whip that can disable or make weakpoints in shields, and a revolver to shoot through the damaged parts of the shield.

I've explained more of my ideas to a few people and they like it.

the government wouldn't be all controlling, just ruthless and evil. crime would be everywhere. less 1984 and more robocop or judge dredd

Glacierwaif: How about a dieselpunk fantasy world where one corporation makes the decision that they are going to sell a unique product: Freedom. Citizens of said corporate nation pay low taxes, and largely get to choose their quality of life depending on how hard they work. The problem is that none of the corporate citizens wish to fight for their freedom, so the corporation grows trolls in tanks, equips them with automatic weapons, and uses them as battle-fodder. The tale is told from the perspective of one of these vat-grown soldiers.
