How do you know they have pneumonia? @Jacob
@ me in response please,
@Deleted User Turned out it was sinusitis
Yeah that's usually the case. Don't fuck around with pneumonia.
I've had pneumonia a couple of times, not fun
>there is a nationwide shortage of EMS
"Shortages" only exist when price is kept artificially low. So either regulation is keeping EMS salaries low enough that it's not worth doing, or the people who *want* more EMS aren't willing to *pay* for it, and so instead call it a “shortage”.
From experience most of the work is not worth doing
Take empress ems one the the biggest companies in the tri state area they pay 12 an hour to work in the hood of NYC and Yonkers
Dealing with pcp junkies stabbings ect for 12 am hour yeah no thanks..
I'm going to a protest/rally in Chicago this weekend, I'm thinking I should bring some basic essential medical supplies just in case
I'm certified in first aid/CPR by the red cross too
What are the absolute essentials I should bring? what's the best remedy for pepper spray?
@here ^
basic med kit should be fine I'm sure many cops will be there for pepper spray use some sort of calcium digestive medicine mixed with water
pepper spray is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be
This is my remedy. Worked wonders at Charlottesville.
where can i get maalox?
Any drug store or Walmart or target or whatever
Look with the tums and stomachs remedies
you can get the store brand it will be the same ingredients
is baby wash just baby soap?
Yeah, get the store brand. You'll save at least 2 or 3 bucks. Just look at the active ingredients. They're the same. And avoid getting cherry or peppermint flavored antacid.
And yes, baby wash is just baby soap
It just has to be marked at "tear free".
Awesome thank you
I couldn't find plain flavored antacid. it was all flavored
if I can't find plain liquid antacid, will the flavored stuff work? are there any good substitutes? @Erika @Louis Loire - NY @Deleted User
Weird. The flavored stuff will work. Just go with the cherry flavor instead of the peppermint flavor I sometimes see.
Alright cool thanks
Definitely cherry, peppermint's harshness(depending on the brand) may cause added irritation to the nose and eyes.
Weird you couldn't find unflavored though.
Any medics want to share some first aid/wound treatment knowledge? How to care for deep wounds, etc
@Clark Crocetti#7720 Anything specific?
Anyone knowledgeable on ketogenic diet?
@MaryJuneVoss - SC you might have better luck on the fitness server, under nutrition.
Yeah I see those guys talking about keto over there sometimes
Re: keto. Your body and especially your brain likes glucose. Your liver stores glucose for around 12 hours after you eat any type of carb. It releases it when fasting, as in your overnight sleep. When your glucose (sugar) stores are gone, aka glycogen stores, your body flips out a little. Your body will start making ketones by burning your fat stores. If you continue eating less than around 30 g carbs daily, you will likely feel low energy and foggy for a few days while your body adapts to the new fuel source. Your brain can use ketones as fuel and will adapt and you will start to feel better.
You will lose weight quickly, but it is mostly water. If you continue, your body will continue mobilizing fat stores - burning fat. Eating most calories from fat, like butter avocado olive oil even bacon, will satiate you especially if you have a lot of fiber in the way of vegetables (avoiding root vegetables high in starch and of course grains).
