Does anyone here know anything about software patent law?
I have an application that I've been working on in my free time for debian server management. I want to have it patented under my personal name and be able to distribute it in an open, initially free, manner and then later monetize it once its gone through most of its growing pains.
Im mostly just looking for general info on the process. Time span, cost, paperwork, etc
and if I release publicly before I have it patented or white its patent pending will that inhibit my ability to patent it?
Ayo we need a channel in the #lifeskills channel for dealing with in laws
srs.
Lol aint that the truth!
@BryceB-ND mine aren’t to bad but the rest of my wife’s family are something else.

We got anyone in here who knows anything about blacksmithing or horses?
I think @hedlikahol might
I know a bit about horses
I think @Felden - CO and @nils might know a bit about smithing as well
I’m a machinist. Never done smith type work.
I'm learning blacksmithing and I'm getting pretty good, but I'd like someone to bounce ideas and troubleshoot with
Specifically, I'm learning Farriery
Same as Felden - Machining, not a smith.
Once I get a better, perhaps I could take up as the Practical Skills server's resident blacksmith?
Get good first😂
🤔 trust me I'm trying
Haha just learn the trade, we'll accept you as a pro bro
🙏🏻 am I a pro yet?

So we're going to see you on Forged in Fire when? @Daniel Turch
I give it 3 weeks
@Daniel Turch Our good friend @Helbrecht - WA may be able to assist with blacksmith questions.
What are some good ideas for a small business that some of you may have?
Here’s a small business I just made and have already made a small profit on https://havamalheathens.com
It’s pretty hands off, but the same model could be done for other products and probably make even more money than what I’ve been making with the one above. All my sales have come from free Instagram traffic too so I haven’t invested much of anything.
So do you make any of the products or by from others and sell it?
Most the accessories I get from suppliers and sell, and most of the clothing are my own designs and then they are printed, quality tested, and shipped at the point of purchase, so there is no upfront cost on my end. It just depends which product it is. Some accessory items are using the same print method as the shirts.
That's my problem,i love to create but am bad about getting it set up on the business scale.
@Envianinteresting ok thanks.
Small business idea: go to a franchise expo and watch a wide variety of franchisors pitch their small businesses. Consider market demand (they present their research on this), investment level, and cultural fit. Here’s one coming up: https://www.franchiseexpomidwest.com/
