I have friends who have died in car wrecks, others with permanent injuries. Car crashes are the #1 cause of death and injury to otherwise healthy people.

And if you want to talk about saving money, fuel economy is one of the smaller contributors, after purchase price, depreciation, and maintenance costs.

Everyone thinks about fuel economy because they see it at the pump every week and because the government harps on it a lot - for good reason, to help the environment. But it is not that big of a hit on the pocketbook compared to the above 3 items.
