idk, we walked around a few places in the UAE with no problem

2018-11-02 18:54:33 UTC

@Koba I've watched documentaries and shows about Dubai. That's as close as I want to get.

2018-11-02 18:54:34 UTC

I would love to go to Iran if I could safely

2018-11-02 18:54:47 UTC

It's a shame though, I would LOVE to see the pyramids firsthand.

2018-11-02 18:55:09 UTC

(I know that's not UAE), I"m just lumping Middle East as a whole.

2018-11-02 18:55:12 UTC

everyone wanted to take pictures with my [family member] because [they] have blond hair and blue eyes lol

2018-11-02 18:55:13 UTC

Yeah UAE isnt nearly as 'bad' as saudi. Its much more neoliberal in its governance/social practices. Business with the saudis is awful - very arrogant people who will do their best to push you around unless you have the right names with you.

2018-11-02 18:55:39 UTC

@Koba boy you haven't been in Qutar

2018-11-02 18:55:43 UTC

2018-11-02 18:56:01 UTC

Qatar I believe.

2018-11-02 18:56:13 UTC

but doesn't matter much

2018-11-02 18:56:15 UTC

ok so either everyone here was a Russian tourist like me or they were in the military lol

2018-11-02 18:56:15 UTC

or that it depends on the transcription

2018-11-02 18:56:23 UTC

hmm yeah might.

2018-11-02 18:56:28 UTC

or.. contractor?

2018-11-02 18:56:54 UTC

When we went to Saudi they had us participate in their tea ritual thing. Its a social thing, but I didnt realize that if you dont turn the cup over or whatever you have to do theyll keep bringing you this tea.

2018-11-02 18:57:09 UTC

lol

2018-11-02 18:57:13 UTC

Dude the tea was awful, like drinking poison, just tasted absolutely terrible.

2018-11-02 18:57:17 UTC

*bladder fills*

2018-11-02 18:57:41 UTC

They kept bringing it out so I just got to the point where I sipped it to make it look like I was actually drinking it, but to avoid having more.

2018-11-02 18:57:48 UTC

when I was in Spain, I went to an arabic restauraunt in Granada. They had mint tea there. It. Was. The. Best. Thing. Ever.

2018-11-02 18:57:59 UTC

2018-11-02 18:58:21 UTC

You have to wolf that stuff down before you get a waitress

2018-11-02 18:58:47 UTC

@Asatru Artist - MD to be fair, even in a normal world there would be a few Arabs in Spain

2018-11-02 18:59:26 UTC

Reconquista wasn't a perfect job

2018-11-02 18:59:58 UTC

plus many did convert to Christianity and stayed

2018-11-02 19:00:21 UTC

Ironically Granada was one of the pro-Franco counties during the spanish civil war

2018-11-02 19:01:18 UTC

2018-11-02 19:01:49 UTC

@Nerv - VA lots of Berber leaders adopted Arab lineages during the Muslim conquest of North Africa

2018-11-02 19:02:04 UTC

>crusaders wore sunglasses unless they saw an Arab

2018-11-02 19:02:12 UTC
