Dubai is a weird city. Ive been to Saudi & UAE a couple of times. Not places I want to go back to. If you ever visit the mid east for whatever reason don't leave the city limits without security detail.
idk, we walked around a few places in the UAE with no problem
@Koba I've watched documentaries and shows about Dubai. That's as close as I want to get.
I would love to go to Iran if I could safely
It's a shame though, I would LOVE to see the pyramids firsthand.
(I know that's not UAE), I"m just lumping Middle East as a whole.
everyone wanted to take pictures with my [family member] because [they] have blond hair and blue eyes lol
Yeah UAE isnt nearly as 'bad' as saudi. Its much more neoliberal in its governance/social practices. Business with the saudis is awful - very arrogant people who will do their best to push you around unless you have the right names with you.
@Koba boy you haven't been in Qutar
*Quatar
lol I dont intend on going unless I have to
Qatar I believe.
but doesn't matter much
ok so either everyone here was a Russian tourist like me or they were in the military lol
or that it depends on the transcription
hmm yeah might.
or.. contractor?
When we went to Saudi they had us participate in their tea ritual thing. Its a social thing, but I didnt realize that if you dont turn the cup over or whatever you have to do theyll keep bringing you this tea.
lol
Dude the tea was awful, like drinking poison, just tasted absolutely terrible.
They kept bringing it out so I just got to the point where I sipped it to make it look like I was actually drinking it, but to avoid having more.
when I was in Spain, I went to an arabic restauraunt in Granada. They had mint tea there. It. Was. The. Best. Thing. Ever.
I enjoyed the herbal tea they had in Turkey

Lol if youre ever in korea they have these things on the table - garlic and some other stuff.
You have to wolf that stuff down before you get a waitress
@Asatru Artist - MD to be fair, even in a normal world there would be a few Arabs in Spain
from a few hundred years ago
^
Reconquista wasn't a perfect job
plus many did convert to Christianity and stayed
Ironically Granada was one of the pro-Franco counties during the spanish civil war
THEY ALL HAVE TO GO :-p
*Andalucia
I was watching this thing about who the berbers were and the guy was saying they weren’t Arabs
^ this
unironically
@Nerv - VA lots of Berber leaders adopted Arab lineages during the Muslim conquest of North Africa
>crusaders wore sunglasses unless they saw an Arab
