Awesome

2018-11-11 01:39:46 UTC

I can't wait to be not divorced parents

2018-11-11 01:40:11 UTC

my parents have been married for 28 years now

2018-11-11 01:40:13 UTC

When I was a kid, I used to have dreams where I had a pretty mom.

2018-11-11 01:40:16 UTC

they're gonna start booming soon

2018-11-11 01:40:27 UTC

My mom was fat and in her late 40s by the time I was young. I always wanted a pretty mom.

2018-11-11 01:40:49 UTC

My grandparents had been married for 62 years when my grandma died

2018-11-11 01:41:09 UTC

That's got to be the most heartbreaking, life destroying thing.

2018-11-11 01:41:33 UTC

Damn.

2018-11-11 01:41:37 UTC

My granddad kind of gave up after that. He died within the year.

2018-11-11 01:41:58 UTC

Dying of a broken heart.

2018-11-11 01:42:03 UTC

@Selma yeah if my wife dies before me I'm going to go join the Dominicans.

2018-11-11 01:42:08 UTC

Haha.

2018-11-11 01:42:12 UTC

lmao

2018-11-11 01:42:46 UTC

I was engaged for a year, didn't work out, but if he had died I probably would have gone with him. So to be married 62 years, that's just your entire life and livelihood.

2018-11-11 01:43:31 UTC

He actually died of some crazy accident. He moved to this assisted living place after grandma died because he didn't want to be alone in the house anymore. He was just walking down to dinner and fell. Went to get checked out, was ostensibly fine, then said "I don't feel so good" and died like 10 minutes later.

2018-11-11 01:43:44 UTC

Internal hemorrhage I guess.

2018-11-11 01:43:52 UTC

Ouch, sorry to hear that

2018-11-11 01:43:54 UTC

Being old sounds scary

2018-11-11 01:44:04 UTC

>trip

2018-11-11 01:44:05 UTC

>die

2018-11-11 01:44:52 UTC

Oh my god, that's awful. I'm sorry about thatt, ophiuchus. Out of genuine curiosity, what did people do before there were assisted living places?

2018-11-11 01:45:00 UTC

Keep their loved one at home and take care of them?

2018-11-11 01:45:03 UTC

Lived with their kids I think

2018-11-11 01:45:05 UTC

Are we just so atomized?

2018-11-11 01:45:06 UTC

@Selma they lived with kids yeah

2018-11-11 01:45:12 UTC

Yep absolutely

2018-11-11 01:45:57 UTC

I won’t go to a home. F that.

2018-11-11 01:46:00 UTC

3 of my grandparents died before I was born, and only my grandfather remains, but he could never even care to remember my name, and would call me my sister's name who was 20 years older than me. I think you're supposed to be close to your grandparents.

2018-11-11 01:46:26 UTC

@Selma that's pretty common I think

2018-11-11 01:46:49 UTC

Well it's just, I don't know, I think families are supposed to stay together and take care of one another.

2018-11-11 01:47:05 UTC

my grandpa would often mix me up with my cousin, I think it's just old people

2018-11-11 01:47:16 UTC

Need to keep your mind sharp

2018-11-11 01:47:23 UTC

I think different generations living together is still pretty common in many parts of the world. Sad that it's not so in the US

2018-11-11 01:47:25 UTC

that's why its important to study mathematics

2018-11-11 01:47:26 UTC

He's 89 and still works full time, PRETTY SURE HE'S SHARP.

2018-11-11 01:47:42 UTC

@ThisIsChris How hard would it be to create a website with a searchable database where you can click check boxes to show certain listing?

2018-11-11 01:47:44 UTC

Yeah, extended families should be a US thing.

2018-11-11 01:48:32 UTC

My family and all their spouses and future spouses lived within a few blocks of each other pre white- flight. Chokes me up driving through there.

2018-11-11 01:48:34 UTC

@Jacob not very hard, if you go through the tutorial on the django website they walk you through doing that. I wouldn't make that in Java though it would take much longer

2018-11-11 01:49:00 UTC

How short was he?
