The ideal is more-or-less the man providing for the family while the wife stays home and is a homemaker/homeschool mom/runs a charity, whatever - and ideals are important to shoot for, but its so impractical to assume you are just going to fall into that paradigm instantly. If you want a society similar to the 50's, we need social and economic conditions similar to the 50's
