Transhumanism is just viscerally depressing to think about
look at the originals
Get your NRA membership goyim
look at the Thanksgiving ones especially
I mean, I would say I'm a Nietzschean, all about the Will to Power. But not at the expense of destroying who we are as organisms. That's the ultimate loss of power
Also, why the hell is the black guy serving bread in one of them?
@Ald Does anyone's life actually get worse because of positive eugenics, though?
Organic eugenics is one thing, morphing into synthetic men another
Gene editing is not the only form of eugenics
Selectively breed.
@Ald @VinceChaos I know it's different but that doesn't really answer the question
right we dont have to gene edit when someone in the movement is shouting about the downsides
What do you mean by worse or better lives
Some form of hedonism or utilitarianism?
A good life is a life in tune with Natural Order
What I mean is improving life satisfaction. And it depends what you mean by the natural order. Is technology in general breaking from the natural order?
Technology that fundamentally alters processes of life
okay so medicine?
aaaaaaaaaaaa
now THIS is breaking from the natural order
A lot of the conditions that modern medicine treats are caused by conditions of modernity
Pollution, sedentary lifestyles, bad food
To say nothing of mental conditions symptomatic of our World day, which I can attest to
I think people who feel the way I have felt are meant to fail and die, but I don't know how inherent it is vs because of the modern environment of alienation
I don’t quite believe technology breaks the natural human order. We aren’t percept-bound animals that live on instinct and are provided by their physical body with all the tools they need.
Developing technologies is fundamentally natural to conceptual human beings. That they allow us to keep ourselves alive under conditions we would normally die in is not a violation of natural order, it’s fulfillment of it.
Certainly there are consequences to it. Women today have narrower hips likely because of c-sections.
And yet, as you said, we likely wouldn’t be lucky enough to have you here without it.
The cat of technology is out of the bag now. It’s too late to go back I believe. What we need now is to be aware of the consequences so we can mitigate them. Unfortunately gene and human race and evolution research are stymied so that prevents certain important discussions from being had.
For example, there’s a good deal of research that the internet has fundamentally altered the way our brains process information. Sometimes for the better, often for the worse. Yet banning the internet is not really an option. The natural human thing to do is to adapt and correct behavior to try to get the best of both worlds.
So we do it back.
We aren’t agencyless slaves
Maybe now. But the short term often looks far worse than what happens over the long term
A lot of good points. You're right, technological advancement is part of who we are. @Alexander Pechorin
pat those sperg idiots don't need to be educated, they just want to undermine our efforts because they're ineffective themselves
