My opinion is to not give money to the church use it help others, help the poor
Helping the needy is also considered tithing
Now if the church is responsible with money you give then I don't see a problem giving money to the church.
Makes sense
In my view, if you don't trust your church with your tithe, you should go to another church. It's likely a church like that also has theological problems.
For me, I always tithe at my church but I know many of the organizations around town and in the region the money goes to and the church every year publishes percent wise where all the money went.
christianity is pretty kewl
like
jesus is a homeboy
and God is the original G
Tru
ya
just thought id spread the truth ya know
Wooooo tithing
That reminds me, I forgot to do mine on my last few paychecks
xD
I have $102 of tithing
Apparently I've gained and lost over 1k this year 😬
This ..this is what I'm saying. JESUS said we only needed to do two things to be saved and neither was choose a certain church as that was religion.
I know the obvious differences between catholic and protestant. But knowing how corrupt today's pope is and about the history of sexual abuse of young boys in the catholic church I have no desire to research that church anymore and certainly no desire to join.
Don't know if this is the right place, but got banned on YouTube yesterday for posting mainstream Christian views, then got banned on r/youtube for posting about it. Lost 13+ years of content on YouTube, and even though they suspended the account, they didn't suspend my premium YouTube subscription. Figures. I figured out a way to cancel it. Anyway. Sorry Tyler, I no longer will get updates on your videos, or be able to support you.
The denominations split for reason. If it's a good enough reason for them to not have fellowship, you should at least look into why and not assume it's nothing. Even from their own judgement, it's not nothing. It's so serious, they won't have communion because of it.
A lot. To go over the difference would take at least 96 pages. 😉 However, the reason Luther was excommunicated, and is the only branch of protestantism that came from the Catholic Church, was two confessions. The Pope is not the head of the church (the big reason), and you're saved by faith alone.
dang dude, that sucks
I know the tithing talk was earlier, but I’m always worried I’ll forget one week, and then when I’m asked at tithing settlement if I pay a full tithe, I’ll say yes, and it will be a lie. 😬
Oof
Freaking. Same. Just did tithing settlement actually. The bishop thought it was funny that I’d always paid it in person
I hate doing it online but now that I have a job I kind of need to
Yikessssss. Same though. Just blew almost a thousand dollars on a college computer
Am I dumb idk what a tithing settlement is
I don't know either 🤔
Lol
i gonna assume they're Mormon bc thats the terminology we use. Basically its when you meet with the Bishop and go over the tithing you have paid in the year, and you say if you're a full, part, or non tithe payer
The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts.
Psalms 10:4 NKJV
This verse i found will be a good one to remember when talking to others about why there is so much evil in the world.
thank you
If a doctor tells you that you need to do X treatment to be cured and then you go tell your friends and family you trust that doctor without obeying that doctor's commands then you do not have faith in that doctor and you will die from your disease, despite your claims of faith.
(BTW I say "you" in the general sense and not "You" specifically.)
The same is true of faith in Jesus. If you do not do as Jesus commanded you to do, then you do not have real faith.
You cannot have faith that is without works.

I agree. There's other ways to look at it and prove the principal, but I agree. I was just stating the facts, not my judgement or opinion.
Speaking on my own, I've found that trying to find out if we are saved (minimalistically) is asking the wrong question. We ought to love Jesus, love others, and do what Jesus commands both in love and humility to him. I'd rather take my chances on his grace than attempt to figure out if I'm good enough. That's just my personal reflection.
The differences between Catholic, Reformed, and Orthodox theology is a very long study, and each detail rooted in a long chain of events in history. That was why I boiled it down to the reason given by the Roman church as to why they excommunicated Luther.
Indeed even St.Pual would not judge himself and left it to the Lord. Our goal should not be to check various boxes on our "how to get to heaven checklist" but to be as loving and kind as we can be.
I often think about how raising children has a theology hidden inside it. Children can be very difficult, needy, and selfish and yet we are commanded by God and even by our corrupt society to love them. '
If we treat others with a fraction of the love we treat our children with we would be much closer to heaven.
