It's unclear to what extent animals think. We know that they have nervous systems, however while they do have that, they don't always have central nervous systems. Realistically just because something has a pain response doesn't mean it can think.

as a woman whose adopted brothers birth mother DIED in child birth I would say the choice is the mothers. That being said if the mother makes the choice of killing her child instead of having it I do think it is immoral, BUT my thoughts are not the force that will ultimately judge her soul 🙂
