I’m not blaming the citizens from slowing down the mail. Just stop the useless junk mail ... kind of what you do with the junk email and spam.

2020-11-24 15:42:13 UTC

@james j that is a "their problem" kind of thing then

2020-11-24 15:42:58 UTC

No one is blaming the citizens for slowing the mail. You said the citizens should not be blamed. However if they do everything right the post office can still invalidate their vote by just being slow @Dan_Sundin

2020-11-24 15:43:57 UTC

@realz a states issue?

2020-11-24 15:44:17 UTC

My comments made for Citizens/ Voters being the cause for the Overvote and Undervote... which was the subject for my post to begin with.

2020-11-24 15:44:23 UTC

Yeah the complaints should be directed at them; the post office was never reliable to the day

2020-11-24 15:44:42 UTC

If you leave it to the time of reception, then you are making something extremely volatile

2020-11-24 15:46:25 UTC

There is a limit but it’s shouldn’t be the day of the election. There should be a window of 2-3 days especially during a pandemic when you know most people will be voting by mail

2020-11-24 15:47:02 UTC

@Dan_Sundin that can also extend to all voters not being blamed for the government messing up

2020-11-24 15:47:08 UTC

I think that no matter what it should be based on postmark

2020-11-24 15:47:14 UTC

It is

2020-11-24 15:47:35 UTC

Votes mailed after a certain day don’t get counted

2020-11-24 15:47:37 UTC

No, the better play is to a hobble an already straining service which is guaranteed to be overwhelmed by the spike and then cry foul.

2020-11-24 15:48:04 UTC

The post office can handle ballots over a months time with no issue

2020-11-24 15:48:25 UTC

They deal with 10 billion pieces of mail during the holidays

2020-11-24 15:48:26 UTC

The post office was never the main method of collecting the vote! But in the year of Covid it became a wiping post.

2020-11-24 15:48:33 UTC

They can deal with ballots with ease

2020-11-24 15:49:34 UTC

Also if that is something conservatives believed they would not support defunding and cutting the overtime of workers at the post office during a election year where many people would vote by mail

2020-11-24 15:49:56 UTC

The post office was there to process the absentee balloting, which is and always has been a subset of those who were not going to be available to go to their precincts to vote on Election Day.

2020-11-24 15:50:17 UTC

The post office can handle regular ballots just fine.

2020-11-24 15:50:34 UTC

That precede was expanded to weeks out with Early Voting.

2020-11-24 15:50:34 UTC

7 states have been exclusively voting by mail for decades

2020-11-24 15:51:02 UTC

This idea that the post office can’t handle it would only be true if you intentionally try to weaken it as trump tried to do

2020-11-24 15:52:09 UTC

And There are deadlines of getting your vote in to the Election Board, otherwise it is considered to be a “Late Ballot” thus uncounted.

2020-11-24 15:52:55 UTC

Right that is my point , the citizen can do everything right but then they are penalized for the post office being slow

2020-11-24 15:53:50 UTC

Which is why trump trying to defund the post office and cut overtime when he knew many people would vote by mail was such a big deal. It’s why congress had to step in and reverse those changes

2020-11-24 15:54:29 UTC

But even if the post office is slow wouldn’t the ballot till be postmarked before or on November 3d?

2020-11-24 15:55:15 UTC

Normally but in some states they have odd rules where if the ballot is late despite it being postmarked it doesn’t get counted

2020-11-24 15:56:00 UTC

That is what the trump administration is fighting in Pennsylvania where 10000 late ballots arrived however they were post marked before or on Election Day

2020-11-24 15:57:12 UTC

The individual state legislators established their election law, which run the term of the election window... if they need to be changed, the next legislative body determines that, the courts don’t change election law, nor do the Secretary of State... nor Governors. If the laws are unconstitutional, then the courts can be involved..,

2020-11-24 15:57:53 UTC

It is by state but the post office is federal

2020-11-24 15:58:21 UTC

Trump was trying to slow down the post office so ballots would arrive outside of that window

2020-11-24 15:58:31 UTC

State Law says, received by the Board of Elections by the Election Day on or before the polls close.

2020-11-24 15:58:31 UTC

@Dan_Sundin, you just advanced to level 5!

2020-11-24 15:59:31 UTC

Thus voters being faulted for something they had no control over

2020-11-24 15:59:35 UTC

I have seen the proof. Over vote of almost 78K in Nevada, according to official Secretary of State documents. The bigger question in all of this, why isn’t main stream media covering this? Why are the calling Biden “president elect” before the electors have met, this is a coup against our govt - and I’m independent and didn’t even like him before based on what I’ve heard; after researching he has done more for this country than any president since Reagan. And I am not biased, I don’t watch news. This is from researching facts

2020-11-24 15:59:39 UTC

Just do your job and vote early, mail or in person.

2020-11-24 15:59:48 UTC

@jodib post proof

2020-11-24 16:00:51 UTC

They did vote early , and voted legally yet their votes can be omitted due to the post office messing up , thus penalizing the voter even though they did everything correctly @Dan_Sundin

2020-11-24 16:01:24 UTC

@james j Everyone knows when the ballots are due and most ppl who vote by mail don’t wait until the last minute to send their ballot.

2020-11-24 16:01:47 UTC

Hang on I’ll get your proof
