and then of course Colbert sucks up to Obama during an interview about his latest book.

2020-12-03 07:13:30 UTC

What about war of Christmas and drugs 😅

2020-12-03 07:15:02 UTC

I mean, during those 8 years, our administration killed more innocent civilians than the terrorist groups they claimed to be fighting.

2020-12-03 07:17:19 UTC

Adam did but hey that seems like a rational response

2020-12-03 07:17:50 UTC

I said nothing of the sort you muppet,

2020-12-03 07:18:28 UTC

If you have a hard time following this, I can understand, but please verify first.

2020-12-03 07:18:39 UTC

You didnt say you were concerned about Biden not withdrawing troops then turn around and complain Obama was handling conflicts without troops?

2020-12-03 07:19:00 UTC

We still have troops there nonetheless

2020-12-03 07:19:47 UTC

If you're going to go on bombing runs, why even have troops on the ground at all.

2020-12-03 07:24:30 UTC

My personal gripes with all this are A: Our military force shouldn't be taken for granted, so there should be immediate withdrawal of all American forces occupying those territories and B: The number of civilian casualties for a conflict with so little justification for intervention is unacceptable in my opinion

2020-12-03 07:30:11 UTC

Remain civil in here, no wishes of violence on other people, nor attacks against other people.

2020-12-03 07:31:41 UTC

You know, except for brown people over seas.

2020-12-03 07:33:42 UTC

What about secession talk? @Maw

2020-12-03 07:34:10 UTC

Peaceful brexit administrative type

2020-12-03 07:35:40 UTC

How about "I hope the consequences of the policies which you're making excuses for that effect people in other countries are visited upon you"?

2020-12-03 07:35:55 UTC

I am not as familiar with this particular talking point, so I am doing some research. To call those "wars" is a bit of a stretch and several of those we have been dealing since way before the Obama administration.
The US has:
- had skirmishes with Libya since the 80's
- conducted drone strikes in Yemen since the mid 00's (hundreds of them by some accounts)
- we have not been at war with Pakistan, but have been carrying out drone strikes since at least 2004.
- Syria is complicated, but the alternative to not getting involved was potentially worse.

I don't have fully formed opinions yet, but on the surface, characterizing these as 5 "wars" started under Obama is not an accurate description of what happened.

2020-12-03 07:35:58 UTC

No.

2020-12-03 07:37:08 UTC

Bombs are acts of war. He did dropped 1 bomb every 12 minutes or something like that.

2020-12-03 07:37:53 UTC

Not that volume no

2020-12-03 07:38:04 UTC

but acts of war nonetheless in my opinion

2020-12-03 07:38:51 UTC

sorry, updated. 12 minutes.

2020-12-03 07:39:10 UTC

And as for Syria, it was always a losing battle. There remained little to gain, and even less to sustain

2020-12-03 07:39:18 UTC

By this same definition, Trump has started more... Each of these has continued under Trump and he added Iran by assassinating their General. Plus, he failed to take measures to protect the troops when they learned that bounties were put on the heads of our soldiers.

2020-12-03 07:39:55 UTC

You're correct. He did however make the largest strides towards ending them.

2020-12-03 07:40:07 UTC

I'm not condoning Trump by any means, but it doesn't absolve the actions of previous presidents either

2020-12-03 07:40:47 UTC

it can't just be this revolving narrative between who's the lesser of these evils.

2020-12-03 07:41:00 UTC

I mean, other than those generals who lied to him about how many troops were in Syria

2020-12-03 07:41:29 UTC

But still, he's the commander in chief, he has the high authority when it comes to military action

2020-12-03 07:42:07 UTC

I only mention it, because concerns were expressed that Biden would potentially be worse for our military and when I suggested that as a parent of a serviceman deployed, Biden might be more sympathetic to the plight of our troops;

2020-12-03 07:42:43 UTC

Except when asked about it by a veteran directly, he refused to answer

2020-12-03 07:43:19 UTC

Did dominion actually say they are unhackable or was that just a claim? Guaranteeing zero hacks vs saying we are very secure is very different

2020-12-03 07:43:34 UTC

They said it was "impossible"

2020-12-03 07:44:56 UTC

No system is unhackable, many systems are hard to hack, really really hard but saying that it is unhackable is more of a marketing term

2020-12-03 07:44:59 UTC

Anyway, I'll take a Tulsi Gabbard over Trump any day.

2020-12-03 07:45:32 UTC

Andrew Wang would also work on the war front.

2020-12-03 07:45:43 UTC

I don't recall that... But, if I were Biden, I would choose my words carefully until I was getting the PDB's and fully read into everything before making any commitments. I know that doesn't bode well for soundbites, but it could be indicative of wanting to maintain his integrity. Or he could have been secretly planning to go hog wild.

2020-12-03 07:46:43 UTC

Huh I wonder if they are more framing it in terms of the actual claims the kraken makes. They do have a security vulnerability reporting system

2020-12-03 07:46:47 UTC

I was impressed during her Joe Rogan interview. He's a big fan of hers.

2020-12-03 07:47:17 UTC

I dont know how liable you are unless you stamp a guarantee on it anyways
