Taiwan (not a member of WHO) shutdown its borders in December. Not sure why the US & U.K. couldn’t.
for what reason?
Because they listened to the WHO.
Yes, I read that, but it was found HERE in the US in Oct if I remember. Let me go look. I posted it somewhere.
We didn’t listen to anybody.
Which still, half the people listen to the WHO.
There is a theory I read about that said that there might have been a relatively recent cold virus (also corona) that made its rounds a while back, which was similar enough to CoVid that the immunity from that cold virus might be enough to fight off CoVid. The thinking is that it might explain why there are asymptomatic carriers.
The more authoritarian us leftists love the mask...
Bingo ... this virus is nobody's fault and we got to stop blaming everyone as if it's their fault they got or their fault someone else got it
Loving the submission of the people.
I think that's really what the hush-hush is about, in all honesty. If you wanna go into conspiracyland, well https://merrileebeazley.org/situation-update-dec-3rd-trump-invokes-foreign-interference-provision-of-his-2018-executive-order-authorizing-military-response-to-cyber-warfare-see-nspm-13/
We in the U.K. listened never followed any of the guidance. As far as I can tell the same in the US, all states had different advice. Trump didn’t take it seriously & Boris was shaking hands with Covid patients 🤦♂️
@AdamS This is exactly why the US withdrew all funding from the WHO, didn't you hear?
"Well you're #$*(ing useless."
@meglide - I was wrong on months - mid December https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19-likely-in-u-s-in-mid-december-2019-cdc-scientists-report-11606782449
Aug 2019 in China from what I read ... but something happened in Dec 2019 in China, I'm really wondering if some mutation occurred that made it deadly (or more deadly) at that time
That's one of the knock's on Trump... Take credit for something until something goes wrong and then blame someone else... Where does the buck stop?
It generally stops with the people responsible for the majority of their state's problems.
The US withdrew because Trump believes WHO is run by China. After the US withdrawal Britain & China invested more into WHO.
Which part?
That's only about 25% of the story.
That's kind of what everyone in politics does. I've never met one politician that said "I take full accountability for my actions"
The China part.
What’s the 75%
There are plenty of suits still pending that have constitutional ramifications and need to be adjudicated before I see that. The three pending from the Trump campaign are some examples. If they are not, my original point remains, the most reasonable option for a legislature to wait and see. If that leads to a contingent election, the results of that will also acceptable as it is within the constitution.
I want that gig... I get to take all the credit and get to place all the blame elsewhere. 😉
Now that makes sense.
@DisenchantedTruth yeah but the point is we couldn't have stopped it had we wanted to because we literally didn't know about it till it was too late
@AdamS They didn't think it prudent to warn the rest of the world when all they had was China saying "Hey guys, no evidence it's airborne. 😉
China then proceeded to buy EVERYONE'S PPE in mass.
So we were #$@!ed when it was found out it was airborne.
Yes! That was my point....all this finger-pointing at Trump is null. It was going around long before we knew.
Oh shiiit
Didn't even know about that bit.
Also they wanted to hedge their own financial virus related issues, by spreading the love.
Yep. WHO sucks.
Yes, they did this to the UK/AU/CA/US.
I swear I got that October 19. We all got sick after traveling from Japan. Who knows.
Then resold defective PPE to these places at hiked costs.
