I was thinking, it might be cool if people on different sides of the divide would have a YouTube video exchange: like they watch 5 of yours, if you watch five of theirs. I feel like people are getting such different sets of information and arguing on the basis of completely disjoint sets of facts.

Yes I talk about that all the time. I have a different media diet than my parents and friends and I can’t just convey all that knowledge and experience of stories to them unless we’re gonna swap brains or read minds

I have friends who are pro-immigration and don't like Trump, but it's not really a major part of their lives. I doubt they even consume political content, they just don't like Blumpf because that's the socially acceptable position around here.

Could just offer on youtube comments or reddit or twitter or something, like I'm an identitarian, and if you want to change my mind, send me 5 videos, and I'll send you 5, and we'll share a few notes to show we watched the videos. kind of like Steven Crowder's change my mind things.

Rather than stay inside & be online go & camp for a couple days. Eat food cooked with fire. Sleep in a hammock. Carve something, walk around in your bare feet if you can.

It's motivated by my thinking that every time I check back with the left and see what people are saying on those threads, it seems they are more open about calling for violence toward their ideological opponents, which reminds me of the Chinese cultural revolution. I want to cool things down if we can. through like, video/book sharing truce or something. (although there's a risk if you put yourself out there as an identitarian, you could draw an attack)
