@sigruna14 Perhaps the "steel barrier" was a rouse?
I mean, the Border Patrol being able to see the other side does make sense. As long as you can't fit drugs between the slats/bollards/whatever.
And can't cut them in half with a freaking hacksaw...
To me barrier is fine either way. More interesting is whether or not Trumo will actually declare emergency and do it or is this an escalation(bluff) to get dems to agree to a deal.
@Johnny B. Populus it may be one of those things where they float it, get the left to unload, and then deny the veracity of it only to actually do it 7 to 10 days later.
Trump did that with the shutdown. If anyone can recall as far back as Dec 2018 you may remember when it seemed the Drumpf was done and had given up on challenging the budget. Pelosi was partying the night before he sprung the shutdown.
Once the wall is up, it would be very hard to get together the political will to tear it down. That's why they're so hard against it. They know the only chance to not have a wall is to prevent one being built. Which is why this fight is so important.
I wanted to piggyback on ServerAdmin's last point about Patrick's speeches. Patrick's Twitter is a really good source for IE's stance on 101 issues as they filter through the news cycle.
Seems like Trump derangement syndrome to me. Dem Congress trying to stand up to Trump. These people already agreed to over 350 miles of barrier and they're fighting 200 something more? Doesn't make sense to be against it.
As a new member for what it's worth I really appreciate that IE doesn't promote or allow actual extremism. Some of us don't want to be associated with the crazies. (and I don't mean rational identitarians)
I get that the left calls everybody crazy but there's still people who are objectively crazy like that Indian guy
His sort of activism sucks
Pretty cool thing happened today. Professor talked about demographic shift and white minority and fully acknowledge while it may be a good thing for some people others will not be happy about it and that it’s a very valid feeling that can be rationally argued against
I'm getting more and more nervous as this government shutdown drags on
I'm worried that Trump might tank his approval rating
moderates who don't really care about the wall are going to see this as Trump shutting down the government for no good reason
@Kingfish I'm hoping I can bring up demographic shift in my American Gov class, today was the first real day of class but I can already tell the teacher is shitlibby, trying to throw shade at johnald doorknob whenever she can
Never outright though so I couldn't push back as much as I wanted to
The wall was a huge campaign promise. You could argue people voted for the wall when they elected him. At this point this issue is too big for Trump to back down from. If he caves it will be for nothing and embolden Congress to do it on every issue.
If he caves he's over, this shutdown is basically his last stand, cucks and he's over, doesn't budge he may get reelected
My world history professor is based she talked about how ancient romans started hating Jews because of their affinity for usury
Regarding the extremism rule, I'm glad we're making that commitment. One thing I've been thinking about is how White advocates should really embrace democracy- a democracy centered around the "demos", or ethnically-defined people. Plus, democracy is essentially an inevitability these days. Our race is too educated and intelligent to be allowed little to no say, as in other systems of government. Maybe other systems made sense in the past, when this wasn't the case and so many were illiterate.
The Romans expelled them for their Jewry. These are facts.
All the dumbass 2.0 GPA in highschool kids kept acting like great thinkers by saying "the elite have all the power" and nothing else, some of these kids couldn't define a monarchy
@Danimal876 Maybe instead of Democracy we back the traditional Republicanism of our forefathers. Democracy= Mobs.
@fgtveassassinif only they learned the elites was code was for Jews.
I think democracy should be replaced with something, but I'm not sure with what
I wanted to sperg so bad
Our forefathers and the ancient Greeks both warned against "democracy" after it failed.
Monarchy and parliament.
Consul & Senate.
we definitely can't "go back" to a previous time in history, or else we'll end up in the same place
Actual picture of me in American Gov whenever someone said elites
Really need a new system instead of rehashed old ones. Propertarianism is a step in the right direction.
@Ian Where we are now, I'd have to argue that there is a lot more tied into the word "democracy" than mobs. It's also a much more emotionally salient word as it references the people. Republicanism is a word only used a fraction of the time as much as democracy, and sounds too vested in one American political party. The idea of someone representing your interests doesn't pull at the heartstrings the way that government deriving its legitimacy from "the people" does.
@Danimal876 In terms of optics yes but in terms of actual substance Democracy will overwhelm us. It's purely a numbers game.
The system as it is now is thoroughly anti-democratic. It's against the people themselves. We are the ones fighting for a more perfect union, for justice, domestic tranquility, and for ourselves and our posterity
How is democracy in itself not the people against themselves
Democracy won't ever protect people from demographic shifts. It's not enough on it's own.
I think it can. Israel defines itself as Jewish and democratic.
Can we also acknowledge that the US isn’t a democracy and never was
