Yeah tbh people that try to support families on random service jobs are dumb.

2019-02-16 03:44:09 UTC

A career should pay well.

2019-02-16 03:44:37 UTC

Fast food is not a career

2019-02-16 03:44:51 UTC

I read that even secretaries made an average of $17 an hour in today’s money in the 50s

2019-02-16 03:44:58 UTC

Plus taxes were lower

2019-02-16 03:45:11 UTC

"Paying" for the UBI isn't an issue. We can constantly generate enough magic fiat money to feed to the masses, limiting it just enough to keep inflation comfortable. It doesn't really matter to them if the QoL for the average goes down as a result.

2019-02-16 03:45:13 UTC

Grown ass people aren't in fast food as "careers" becaus they want to be.

2019-02-16 03:45:39 UTC

Yeah you have to keep intellectual limitations in mind

2019-02-16 03:45:57 UTC

In fact that's pretty much already happening in a way, if you compare real buying power for hours worked to what it was 50 years ago.

2019-02-16 03:46:05 UTC

Well yeah I'm not going to troll people because they have a bad job, but It brings to mind groups of certain demographics of people screaming for 15 an hour min wage in the fast food industry.

2019-02-16 03:46:20 UTC

@Grenadier I don't think the math would work out on that. If they're giving them enough money to buy stuff, that's either gonna come out of their own taxes or out of inflation. I mean maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it's not mathematically possible to do that.

2019-02-16 03:46:21 UTC

Or even just corporate predation. Wal Mart rolls into small town, puts the 10 sprecialized shops out

2019-02-16 03:46:22 UTC

Which ironically minimum wage increases automation.

2019-02-16 03:46:27 UTC

@Jacob id add in the qualifier that the standard doesnt apply to basic entry level jobs like churro selling which are usually for high school students to get some experience so they can move on.

2019-02-16 03:46:49 UTC

ah okay

2019-02-16 03:46:53 UTC

When you control every aspect of the market and currency, there's really not a lot you can't get away with.

2019-02-16 03:47:06 UTC

to be honest, if I could make enough money to sustain myself with an easy job, I'd just take an easy job

2019-02-16 03:47:32 UTC

Yeah I used to be a libertarian but I’m definitely a lot less free market now. My only qualm about limiting automation and avoiding the creation of self aware AI is that China has no such constraints

2019-02-16 03:47:54 UTC

@Grenadier I mean I still don't think that's physically possible just because of math and stuff, but maybe I'm just not knowledgeable on economics

2019-02-16 03:48:07 UTC

Well, China may not have such reservations but they're going to reap the same whirlwind.

2019-02-16 03:48:22 UTC

Just like with designer babies. While we are waiting around China is actively pursuing the creation of 200 IQ children

2019-02-16 03:48:41 UTC

It’s unnatural but I’m afraid it’s necessary to avoid being conquered by China

2019-02-16 03:49:16 UTC

I'm not a free market absolutist but I think there needs to be a bit of temperament in some circles where people start throwing everything out conservatives touched just because neocons are gay. There are some complicated arguments on why markets should be more or less loosely regulated. Things like amazon paying no taxes are an issue though, as well at tech company censorship.

2019-02-16 03:49:45 UTC

@OttoVonBismarck dude I totally agree

2019-02-16 03:49:46 UTC

I think the internet should be declared a public forum

2019-02-16 03:49:55 UTC

at some point we have to get over "ew it's gross"

2019-02-16 03:50:04 UTC

because if we don't do it China is gonna wreck us

2019-02-16 03:50:17 UTC

To be fair that guy got shut down hard by china. It's not a sanctioned project.

2019-02-16 03:50:39 UTC

maybe that guy did, but eventually China is gonna get into some crazy stuff

2019-02-16 03:50:41 UTC

There are two babies on this earth that are now gene edited to resist HIV now though.

2019-02-16 03:51:27 UTC

Yeah, we’re basically in that Star Wars garbage compactor right now with China on one side and the third world on the other. Meanwhile globalists are the tentacle monster

2019-02-16 03:52:37 UTC

@OttoVonBismarck the tentacle monster is called a dianoga, utterly vile creatures

2019-02-16 03:52:50 UTC

@OttoVonBismarck internet race types smelled something and roared

2019-02-16 03:53:51 UTC

<:really:453005408064241674>

2019-02-16 03:54:03 UTC

that's probably the silliest reason to be pessimistic right now

2019-02-16 03:54:33 UTC

I'm feeling personally attacked rn

2019-02-16 03:55:28 UTC

the real black pill is that any gene edited super whites will just team up with super Asians and dispose of us with all of the browns

2019-02-16 03:56:13 UTC

Oh and super heebs

2019-02-16 03:57:03 UTC

I just don't understand why the greatest generation and boomers didn't seem any solutions to the growing epidemic of genetic defects within the population. They understand our divorce rates are sky high, among many other things, but they sought no solution because of "muh repeating history". It's just infuriating, and now we have a potential high I.Q China which is far worse than any brown invasion.

2019-02-16 03:58:55 UTC

Its because of those damn phones
