Hey guys so I learned a interesting fact about America (specifically white America) that should give us hope

The American Revolution was one of the very, very few revolutions that actually worked.

But I just found that to be really cool and interesting. Even though America is totally zogged right now our roots are really important and those people overcame insane odds to make something that was, at one point really amazing

If the Colonies had gold this would be a completely different story. England needed to pay their debts, and poor tobacco farmers are not the best way to do that.

It was also not a popular movement in the sense that only a minority actively supported it

most were indifferent

and it was lead by the elite

I also have a soft spot in my heart for some 'merica patriotism haha. Yeah I don't know when I heard that earlier it really resonated with me

It makes me want to go back and read huck fin and Louis and Clark and all that old literature

I'm not against supporting non whites who prove they will champion our causes if there's not a white alternative on the field. But gotta see some action.

Maybe I'm the odd one out but I have no fondness for America, even the America conceived in the hearts and minds of the founding fathers. It's my home, but at the end of the day it's still a product of the Enlightenment and egalitarianism.

Positing that all white men are equal opens up the ground that all black men are equal to whites too because it's self evident that some blacks are more competent than some whites.

@olly-CA Yeah, kind of maybe. I mean it is true that America did not, as a nation form as organically, as Germany, Britain or Russia.

But that's because it was founded under different circumstances as a far flung colony of another power on a seperate continent.

I think the founders used the ideas that were prevelant at the time to legitimize a new nation.
