We cannot define left and right solely based on a view of power and its distribution and that powers relation to economics. Economics rightfully deserves its own axis. If Im understanding what you are essentialyl saying is that marxism is the left while capitalism is the right, or rather who has power and the economics that go with this power. This creates a horribly skewed and brutally mobile axis and its brutally open ot interpretation.

THe better axis is based like what Draco said. Alternatively we could add a Z axis to get even more accurate but ramming two axes into one makes it just simply innacurate and pointlessly loose in its interpretation.
