2019-07-25 05:06:28 UTC

NO COLLUSION

2019-07-25 05:06:29 UTC

TOTAL EXONERATION

2019-07-25 05:06:37 UTC

MUELLER HAS EARLY ONSET DEMENTIA LMAOOOOOO

2019-07-25 05:17:35 UTC

The report exonerated him or the report was totally erroneous? Which is it. @Vinblob242 🧢

2019-07-25 05:17:35 UTC

2019-07-25 05:19:21 UTC

Early onset dementia, but he's competent enough to secure the total exoneration. That is quite convenient.

2019-07-25 12:43:49 UTC

I’ll agree Trump is not the best option for the leader of our country, everyone still has to respect the man. After all he says what he really thinks about issues. He doesn’t say meaningless things just to make himself look better.

2019-07-25 12:48:04 UTC

he's antiestablishment

2019-07-25 12:48:08 UTC

which is refreshing

2019-07-25 12:48:21 UTC

yes u dont have to counter me with something something hes not totally antiestablishment, i know

2019-07-25 12:48:25 UTC

*relatively*

2019-07-25 12:48:41 UTC

and as of now hes the first president since ww2 to not have started a war

2019-07-25 13:02:07 UTC

Trump also does meaningless things which weaken the US' position domestically and abroad

2019-07-25 13:10:59 UTC

example

2019-07-25 13:27:56 UTC

Trump's behavior towards its NATO allies

2019-07-25 14:05:44 UTC

mm well

2019-07-25 14:06:12 UTC

usa does pay a lot more than anybody else

2019-07-25 14:06:25 UTC

and part of the country's problem is how much they spend on defense

2019-07-25 14:06:55 UTC

as a canadian i definitely feel like we passively take advantage of our american neighbors for defense for free

2019-07-25 14:09:14 UTC

his dealings with say NATO and trading with china while they certainly aren't going to make other countries happy they are good for the american economy

2019-07-25 14:54:05 UTC

The trade war is certainly not good for the American economy

2019-07-25 14:55:52 UTC

The US has transitioned to a services-based economy. The cost of production in America is higher than in manufacturing-based economies. Even if we save 1000 job in tire manufacturing or whatever, the price of tires will increase significantly which means that either all wages in all industries will have to increase (causing excess inflation) or Americans will not buy tires (or cars) anymore.

2019-07-25 21:35:55 UTC

@Vinblob242 🧢 did you miss the part where he said in words that this was not an exoneration or somethin

2019-07-25 21:36:11 UTC

or the 10 acts of obstruction recorded by the special counsel

2019-07-25 21:36:20 UTC

like 3 of which fit all 3 necessary components of obstruction of justice

2019-07-25 23:25:44 UTC

@Fane tariffs + national investment in the protected industries would actually be good for whichever industries are involved, but you want to do it for secondary and tertiary industries, not primary/raw resource ones... like trump is doing with steel. why? because you dont want to raise the price of basic inputs for every other company since higher production costs has a deleterious effect on production

2019-07-25 23:26:00 UTC

its not that tariff bad, its that trump's particular strategy is dumb

2019-07-26 00:09:54 UTC

Tariffs are not always bad but mostly they are.

2019-07-26 00:32:05 UTC

so i put out a substantive analysis

2019-07-26 00:32:13 UTC

and you respond with a "general rule"

2019-07-26 00:32:22 UTC

you dont know shit about tariffs

2019-07-26 01:16:54 UTC

I don't very much like Trump as a person and he's gone and done some stupid shit that went against his own supporters but there's no way in hell I'm voting for anyone besides him in 2020 unless I just want the whole country to turn into a socialist, open borders, economically screwed fuck fest

2019-07-26 01:28:04 UTC

@Green Syndicalism K sry I was in the middle of doing something else at that same. In hindsight, it was a bs post. But what you are suggesting is a large-scale protectionist economy within America. That helps absolutely no one, even the industries involved in the long run. China helps its own industries, sure, but China is not America. The US' tariffs are not happening in a static world; they are happening in tandem with retaliatory tariffs (by China and other trading partners) which make US' exports uncompetitive. Even if the US starts helping out all its industries, they will eventually look for foreign markets. You are simply stifling their economic freedom. A protectionist economy is a globalized world does not work.

2019-07-26 01:42:41 UTC

have you even looked at the stats? you have both a trade deficit *and* a massive budget deficit. When you eventually lose the reserve currency of the world (which you will eventually, trump is making sure of that), these drains on your economy will become apparent. You'll have a weak dollar, making foreign imports very expensive, raising the cost of living without actually raising the wages of your own workers. What do you think this will be other than a monster recession? You won't have the local industries in existence to mitigate the effects of this *inevitability* because you *didnt* protect them in the first place.

>they will eventually look for foreign markets.

you know why they rely on this? its because local consumers dont have the demand to satiate the productive capacities of your own industries because they're in so much debt and their wages aren't going up. If you increased the purchasing power of your own citizens (with proper wage growth and modern debt jubilees), your economy would be *far* less dependent on foreign markets sales.

>That helps absolutely no one, even the industries involved in the long run

you've said this, then provided no argument to back it up. while i agree we shouldnt protect *every industry* because these industries dont exist in a vacuum (my steel tariffs example is a good illustration of this), we should protect the industries at the top of the pile, because they're the ones who provide the high wages, they're the ones who provide for global monopolies and they're the ones who make america's national security and hegemony secure. It makes *no* sense to allow these industries to be offshored, and they needn't be with good regulation. Keeping industries at home leads to future productivity gains *in your own nation*, encourages immigration of the most skilled and educated workers from other nations (a brain sink) and ensures full sovereignty as you are less reliant on the whims of foreign states.

2019-07-26 01:44:20 UTC

the argument for free trade is "you get cheaper goods in the short run!"

2019-07-26 01:44:37 UTC

it ignores every other aspect of the economy

2019-07-26 01:51:40 UTC

@Green Syndicalismmy intellectual friend
