2018-05-24 23:25:02 UTC

2018-05-24 23:25:09 UTC

2018-05-24 23:26:34 UTC

the pain can become so normalized you forget what the baseline is and can think you are recovering

2018-05-24 23:30:38 UTC

Oh shit, you weren’t kidding

2018-05-24 23:31:39 UTC

The internet has tainted me so badly that when I see ‘RIP Person’ I just assume it’s bullshit

Don't forget the edits.

2018-05-25 00:16:05 UTC

The one with the oversized mouth?

2018-05-25 00:16:16 UTC

Shit man, he was the one that got me into game dev

2018-05-25 00:16:48 UTC

And the one who got me out of game dev and into a job in SE, and then plan to go back in game dev in a few years when I am financially stable.

2018-05-25 00:19:12 UTC

game dev should be a hobby. if you make a reputation, then try making yourself an indy studio

2018-05-25 00:19:32 UTC

Lol, I was gonna work with a larger company

2018-05-25 00:19:40 UTC

no, no no no no no no

2018-05-25 00:19:57 UTC

Then I learnt the reality of it and decided to do proper software

2018-05-25 00:20:00 UTC

well, unless you like sleeping in a studio and getting fired at the end of the project and rehired later

2018-05-25 00:20:16 UTC

Nah, it wasnt the case, Like I siad, it was one specific company

2018-05-25 00:20:36 UTC

i followed the same route "maybe i could do game design *does research* maybe i'll just do normal SE and make games as a hobby"

2018-05-25 00:21:34 UTC

When that didnt work out, I kept in touch with the lead dev who was a really cool guy in general.

2018-05-25 00:23:13 UTC

Nah I am in your situation, Ill do it as a hobby

2018-05-25 00:25:27 UTC

don't think i could work for a large game company. too many potential head people, too abstracted from the project, trying to maximize profits

2018-05-25 00:44:22 UTC

Yeah, kinda why after Tencent bought a majority I got worried

2018-05-25 00:44:34 UTC

Though after I heard about the other companies so I am less worried

2018-05-25 00:44:56 UTC

Now I am worried people will stop buying stuff from them now that they think the company already made it big

2018-05-25 00:48:56 UTC

what? grinding gear?

2018-05-25 00:48:58 UTC

or riot?

2018-05-25 00:53:04 UTC

or uh

2018-05-25 00:53:08 UTC

none, ok

2018-05-25 00:54:42 UTC

honestly if you want to work in games, imo the most stable option (relatively speaking) is to work in co-development or outsourcing. games get bigger every year and it's a much better choice to work at a place where your employment isn't dependent on how well a game sells, but only the fact that another company needs your company to help make it.

2018-05-25 00:54:59 UTC

friggin outsourcing

2018-05-25 00:55:09 UTC

it sucks that games and film are so unstable

2018-05-25 00:55:11 UTC

the fact that's caught on so much really annoys me

2018-05-25 00:55:41 UTC

yeah, it's been a thing for years and it's here to stay
