These people ruin everything they associate themselves with
Recipe for a guaranteed failure
@Uksio also they don’t use the products that they want changed or are customers of said products
companies go woke and go broke,
Because they make the mistake that "What the audience complains about is Criticism, AND that they KNOW what they're talking about"
And they think that cuz they brand themselves as "We listen to our fans blabla" that the fans will somehow show loyalty and all go buy it
but these loud idiots wont buy it they'll just complain
Jeremies video about jim jeffries that he released yesterday hit the nail on the head about this
Other extreme is listening to your market researchers and investors though
But at least this strategy pays off in the end
Companies confuse outrage mobs with zero interest in their products with an actual target audience.
listening to market researches is a flop too
and investors will tell you to remake the same game
lesser flop
no, absolute flop 😄 look at that company uh
@Dr.Wol @I AM ERROR exactly the outrage mob are not customers they are just the outrage mob
Tale of Tales?
who made that shitty game about being a cleaner during some racist period in the 30's
So far the most surefire way is just being true to your craft
Genuine quality will always have a fanbase that will pay
they took advice from a "professional games critic" (the one who wrote the Gamers are Dead article)
@Uksio agree
Staying apolitical may help too
Jessica Price lel
@Uksio depends
Make a product and make is as good as possible. Really hard concept to grasp.
no, its that annoying journalist that hate games
You mean the one that complained about black buffy?
@I AM ERROR this is tru but also stay away from politics and dont choose sides
no, that has-been
Lee something?
curly hair
wrote a book about her experiences as a games journalist
told people on twitter she was glad they lost their jobs etc
Don’t know who you mean but that sounds like a really lovely and upstanding member of society.
right Leigh Alexander
that was the name
had to look it up
anyhow
you guys are making the typical mistake though with "how to make video games"
Cuz what you guys said is basically:
"The key to making a good game, is to make a good game"
It starts with,
1. What game do you want to make in broad terms? (FPS? RPG? RTS? etc) doesn't have to fit the category but defined
2. What is a good sellable Idea? (Some unique gameplay things) that other games don't have so you stand out
3. What is the experience i want to give to people? (Good story? solid gameplay? amazing graphics?) something that makes the user get horny
