companies go woke and go broke,

Because they make the mistake that "What the audience complains about is Criticism, AND that they KNOW what they're talking about"

And they think that cuz they brand themselves as "We listen to our fans blabla" that the fans will somehow show loyalty and all go buy it

2018-07-26 10:18:22 UTC

but these loud idiots wont buy it they'll just complain

2018-07-26 10:18:44 UTC

Jeremies video about jim jeffries that he released yesterday hit the nail on the head about this

2018-07-26 10:18:55 UTC

Other extreme is listening to your market researchers and investors though

2018-07-26 10:19:08 UTC

But at least this strategy pays off in the end

2018-07-26 10:19:11 UTC

Companies confuse outrage mobs with zero interest in their products with an actual target audience.

2018-07-26 10:19:23 UTC

listening to market researches is a flop too

2018-07-26 10:19:31 UTC

and investors will tell you to remake the same game

2018-07-26 10:19:34 UTC

lesser flop

2018-07-26 10:19:44 UTC

no, absolute flop πŸ˜„ look at that company uh

2018-07-26 10:19:44 UTC

@Dr.Wol @I AM ERROR exactly the outrage mob are not customers they are just the outrage mob

2018-07-26 10:19:52 UTC

Tale of Tales?

2018-07-26 10:20:11 UTC

who made that shitty game about being a cleaner during some racist period in the 30's

2018-07-26 10:20:18 UTC

So far the most surefire way is just being true to your craft

2018-07-26 10:20:38 UTC

Genuine quality will always have a fanbase that will pay

2018-07-26 10:20:40 UTC

they took advice from a "professional games critic" (the one who wrote the Gamers are Dead article)

2018-07-26 10:20:44 UTC

anyhow

2018-07-26 10:26:04 UTC

you guys are making the typical mistake though with "how to make video games"

Cuz what you guys said is basically:
"The key to making a good game, is to make a good game"

2018-07-26 10:28:52 UTC

It starts with,
1. What game do you want to make in broad terms? (FPS? RPG? RTS? etc) doesn't have to fit the category but defined
2. What is a good sellable Idea? (Some unique gameplay things) that other games don't have so you stand out
3. What is the experience i want to give to people? (Good story? solid gameplay? amazing graphics?) something that makes the user get horny

2018-07-26 10:29:23 UTC

Kek

2018-07-26 10:29:33 UTC

Yeah. Just make a good game.
