i like to think they were just lazy
"we've been trying to meet your demands and you keep demanding more? fuck this. we're tired of getting caught in the cross-hairs for your crusades. We need to get back to not making games."
Think about it this way if a company like blizzard and wotc think they will make money policing what people think and kick them off for “toxic” behavior and they are realizing that they are losing money doing this ....
@Grenade123 exactly
what does valve even do anymore
besides make their first game in years be more bs trading card style games.
with like 0 effort
You give them a finger and they want the whole fist up thier ass
I mean, sure, I can appreciate the no censorship angle, but could also mean a cover up of their inadequecies in moderating the quality of entries.
If Discord was built into Steam...
man, that'd be pretty great.
better than the crappier chat function Valve just thrust upon us...
discord should go nowheres near steam
They are shady af
You mean with the greenlight stuff?
Discord is the shady one
Check what they did to the FFXIV server i believe it was
Sec ill get a link
Valve is probably going to outright buy Discord, assuming they have the liquid cash to do so.
Tbh the only solution to the issues Discord presents is hosting your own shit
yes
I wish there was like a teamspeak with better ui and chat
I wish Mumble had full IRC integration
It's only 1way
Yeah mumble has the same issue, the ui and chat are godawful
At least last time I tried it
Mumble just has too many options if you don't know what you're looking for. Otherwise I don't mind it
But it has a plugin that dumps chat messages to IRC but it doesn't pick up from IRC as well or something
Which sucks because if you could do everything through mumble that would be *perfect*
Discord, but decentralized, then?
Part of the problem with Ventrilo and TeamSpeak 2 were that you could only be in one server at a time.
discord but FOSS preferably
and yeah decentralized
Slack has seperate logins for each server you connect to
I think theres another program/protocall called Riot that works like that as well
Slack is still hosted first party though
I believe theres an enterprise version that can be hosted internally
Rocket.Chat can be hosted locally as well
right and rocket.chat allows multiple servers as well right?
