Theres not much that can go wrong to the point you cant fucker it to get it somewhere better suited to repair

2020-05-06 19:11:50 UTC

That’s my thought process, maybe save the EFI shit for something else

2020-05-06 19:12:01 UTC

With a good tuned 650 I should still get about 15 mpg

2020-05-06 19:13:16 UTC

Which could get me about 350-375 miles each fill up

2020-05-06 19:38:49 UTC

A basic efi system is pretty damn indestructible short of an EMP, which is maybe a 0.0000000001% chance of happening at any point. As neat as it is to think of how things would be afterwards...

2020-05-06 19:39:45 UTC

Problem with the EFI is you now have a high pressure fuel system

2020-05-06 19:40:07 UTC

So I’d have to change fuel pumps, lines and filters

2020-05-06 19:40:26 UTC

Where if I keep it as a carb I can at least rob parts from other fords

2020-05-06 19:41:07 UTC

I agree they do just fine but in a situation where parts and service may be an issue i would prefer the peace of mind of being able to grab shit from similar vehicles

2020-05-06 19:47:43 UTC

Lines you can mostly keep rubber. Cut an access hole or use an external fuel pump and keep a spare in the vehicle would be my idea behind it. Could rig anything from any other vehicle. FPR would be the biggest concern imo.

2020-05-06 19:49:42 UTC

Never mind I’m retarded

2020-05-06 19:49:55 UTC

It’s 60-100 psi

2020-05-06 19:50:11 UTC

I could use high pressure line for that but I’d prefer stainless

2020-05-06 19:51:24 UTC

Could probably jerry rig a way to reduce pressure if I had to swap it back to a carb, linkages are the same

2020-05-06 19:58:56 UTC

Yeah. Honestly just get a good holley FPR. I imagine the larger carb uses anywhere from 6-15 psi? I've only really messed with small carbs on old japanese shit boxes. Not dealing with that anymore though....

98 Discovery 1... Btw, anyone selling a winch? lol

2020-05-06 20:35:34 UTC

I’d have to look at the specs but I think it’s around 10psi stock

2020-05-06 20:35:59 UTC

I have two 650edelbrocks sitting on my bench that I’d use

2020-05-06 20:36:03 UTC

Can’t beat free

2020-05-06 20:38:56 UTC

Yeah. Might as well use what you've already got. Spend the savings on wear parts and suspension.

2020-05-06 20:39:50 UTC

Yup

2020-05-06 20:40:19 UTC

Hoping by the end of summer I’m ready to tag it and end of next year have it where I want it

2020-05-06 20:40:35 UTC

Looking at roughly 6-7k at the moment projected cost to finish

2020-05-06 20:40:55 UTC

Which at the end of the day is still cheap for a classic 4x4 in good condition

2020-05-06 20:47:20 UTC

@Soulraiser i think the winches at HF are pretty good and theyre cheep

2020-05-06 20:58:24 UTC

Yeah, that's a great price for a classic. I've got 4500 into this Discovery 1 but it's also borderline mint aside from saggy headliner. While being able to do pretty much anything you could ever ask for offroad, short of being a rock crawling buggy or some really crazy shit. All with great A/C and great sound from the factory. Lol I've heard some bad things about HF winches but maybe they've improved. Worth a shot I suppose, as it'll be more for getting other people out than myself. Assuming maxtrax fail.

2020-05-06 21:41:27 UTC

Very nice

2020-05-06 21:42:13 UTC

Shane is right, HF has two lines their bottom barrel stuff and their Quinn line

2020-05-06 21:42:54 UTC

The Quinn line IMO is nicer than craftsman, crescent, husky and kobalt hand tool lines

2020-05-06 21:43:09 UTC

Cheap as all get out and no questions asked warranty

2020-05-06 23:28:39 UTC

Gotta replace an 02 Nissan altima ac compressor for someone, does anyone know what years are interchangeable for that part gonna go junk yard shopping tomorrow used to working on my chevy so first Nissan repair for me.

2020-05-06 23:29:35 UTC
2020-05-06 23:30:08 UTC

And videos I see on YouTube for 06 would be the same install procedure for an 02? Thanks for your answer btw!

2020-05-06 23:31:37 UTC

Yessir. I work for Infiniti actually so I unfortunately know all about Nissans🤦🏼‍♂️ we just sold my wife’s 04 Altima a few weeks ago when she got her 17 Sentra turbo, and not 3 weeks later the rod 3 packed its bags and headed south for good.

2020-05-06 23:31:54 UTC

The Altima, not the Sentra.

2020-05-06 23:32:54 UTC

Damn. Hopefully this one is good after I replace the compressor. Whats your thoughts on the altima for that year? Are they troublesome or you think you got a lemon?

2020-05-06 23:39:11 UTC

Personally, I’m biased against a Nissan unless it’s a s14 or s15, but they’re not bad. They have problems just like every other make and model. Biggest thing with them is the transmissions because they have a CVT trans and you can’t beat on them. Hers was a good car, it just had a lot of miles on it. Hers was knocking on 264xxx when we got rid of it. Hers had an issue with using oil and it would smoke pretty bad on start up, and I just never got around to digging into it. It was either bad valve seals or PCV valve. Overall though, it was good. Just DEFINITELY keep up the maintainence on it, and it’ll be fine. Regular oil changes, coolant flushes, but ONLY use blue Nissan coolant if you don’t flush it. Nissan uses some retarded ass coolant that if it’s mixed with any other color, it’ll gel up and you’ll have a cooling system full of jello.

2020-05-07 00:24:46 UTC

Thanks for taking to time to share your thoughts on it, hopefully this one we got runs without more issues after tomorrow.🤞

2020-05-07 00:27:44 UTC

@baconreclaimer - 351W motors aren't all that common, that will be an interesting build.

What are you talking about
