Greetings all. I was told by a friend that there is a person here that collects and uses fountain pens. I myself collect and use mechanical pencils. It was suggested that I come here, introduce myself and then fight Fountain Pen Man to the death.
๐ฉ Cheers. I imagine I will have deadly conversation of great lethality with monsignor Legalize ๐
YESS.. GOOOOOD
I am fire aligned afterall~
I have only one fountain pen. Behold! @Legalize
Pencils can write on virtually any surface regardless of the direction of gravity, or the lack of gravity.
They can also be used for smooth uniform shading in visual art, not merely used for crosshatching.
Actually I agree with the crossing out part when it comes to information, but other times with art it is necessary to erase.
Pencils cannot dry up, nor do the have the potential to explode in-pocket.
Actually, I like art tools and writing instruments in general, but my obsession is with graphite, mechanical pencils in particular. I do some calligraphy, and some various dry media art and painting in digital paint and oils. I have a single calligraphy pen at the moment. I've lost all my others, but I also have some crow quill dip pens.
Rotring made a very neat "technical" fountain pen a while back which has since become a very expensive collector's item. Not so interested in that. I am interested in the Pilot Elite 95. I prefer EF and very fine lines for writing and for drawing.
Hmm. I dunno. I like pencils for writing a lot. The tactile feedback and ability to correct mistakes is nice, as well as laying out guide rules and margins in a non-permanent way.
The trouble being that it's much less permanent for archival needs than is inks, unless the workpiece is treated with fixative.
word processing software?? pbbpbtpbtpbt. Oog Bored with word processors.
MAYBE an allowance for mechanical typewriters.
Perhaps we are. But mammoth meat is bountiful and delicious.
hahaha
Isn't that like renaming parks and removing monuments?
They are mechanically interesting. The old school ones.
Titanium pencil?!
Elaborate please.
Kind of looks like the Tactile Turn.
Gorgeous.
I want one.
I also want a Modern Fuel pencil
Since pencils are more my thing I imagine getting a Modern Fuel beforoe the Tactile Turn.
It isn't monolithic but it's built to look that way.
Your choice of titanium, phosphorus bronze, tellurium copper, or stainless steel
My choice will be Titanium because... well, titanium.
I've heard of these.
They honestly did not really seem like they were worth it.
Ah, I used a staedtler pointer. Alvin makes one like it also.
The Gist?
Seems nice. I'd like to find one in the style of the porsche design titanium. I really like that sleek elegant look but I don't want to spend 1000 for a porsche fountain pen.
I prefer tungsten, but it's nearly impossible to work with.
Not just saying that maintain rivalry either ๐คฃ
I _love_ tungsten.
Tungsten is _very_ heavy, and very hard. It's difficult to cut and turn with machine tools. It's even difficult to cast and melt (melting point 3422 ยฐC)
That's the primary reason in its cost. It isn't a rare substance, but it is very difficult to work.
Well tungsten is fairly brittle because of its extreme hardness.
When used as jewelry polishing it is virtually unnecessary because ordinary materials cannot scratch it.
It is used as a substitute for U238 depleted uranium in armor piercing projectiles.
Yes.
Some day I will own an awesome tungsten pencil. Even if I have to make it myself ๐ค
A charging handle made of tungsten is a strange choice.
I've heard of tungsten filled buffers before.
If they think it's child abuse to have an obese child, then I don't see how it's NOT child abuse to raise them believing the world is going to end any second because of the climate cult's beliefs.
I'm a captitalist _fox_.
I just ate a ton of chinese food. I'll have to wait an hour before I can even think about tacos.
interesting
@Legalize thoughts on Pilot Elite 95s?
You prefer larger pens in the hand?
That's a lot of pen
whoa holy carp ๐ I had not realized it was made from basalt
That's pretty cool.
Sort of reminds me of the "Big Bang" set of 1911's
Those are _out of this world_ though.
They are a pair of mirror image 1911 handguns which are literally made out of machined meteorite. They are in fact space guns.
If someone out there has mad a pen or pencil set made of metallic meteorite, I need their name and address, and work schedule, like pronto... for archival and educational purposes of course.
Palladium or Gold nibs?
I've actually not heard of palladium being used before reading about this pen.
It's horifying. I can't do it.
I try to hear people out, but I have limits
There's a lot of that amongst the femnist crowd. I was just asking a friend about this yesterday I think. Basically the premise was "is this actually an agenda of manufacturing misery?"
Women want equal rights, they get them, but now societal demands are too much
Women want more equal pay, the gap begins closing in many fields, women unhappy they can't find men with more money than they.
Women say men are brutish, boorish pigs and that they want kind, sensitive and caring men, except the reality is that women are not attracted to soy boys so now "there's no real men anywhere"
Women shouldn't be relegated to home making. Well okay I agree being relegated to that isn't right but nobody said that it was a bad thing and now women's happiness has been on the decline as workforce participation outside the home has increased.
That's pretty much my argument. There are different callings for men and women. They aren't hard and fast rules, but in general men are happy being able to do some level of physical work and demonstrate competence and success. Women in general are more happy orienting themselves in to a role of caregiving, nurturing of young, etc. Men and women are not the same, and while as human being each of us are capable of whatever it is we make our goal (to a degree) we are each better adept at certain things.
What age group are we talking about? Am I the old fox in this chat too? I'm 35.
GAH I'M OOOOOOLD
Women are more oriented toward organized religion than men? Or? hm that's interesting.
Interesting... I wonder what their criteria for "religion" is though. I mean, women in general are more interested in people than they are in things, which is the opposite case for men.
So socializing in church is going to be more appealing to women also than it is for men.
I wonder if the more succinct question should be "is a relationship with a trancendant deity very important in your life?"
Or in the Christian case, How important is _God_ in your life.
"Religion" is somewhat of a nebulous term.
They seem to be more attracted to the more heavily orthodox ones though.
Tim Pool?
Is that a beanie or did he sculpt his hair permently in to a woolcap?
Also... why do people do that? I can't wear a winter beanie when it's warm.
Maybe he's _super_ bald.
That helps explain it.
I have 2 feet of hair so no way I can do that.
Maybe not if he actually wears glasses
You're a traitor to the left's narrative. How dare you!

I'm not trying to convert you in to liking pencils ๐
But there are nice pencils~
The 1934 NFA and the 1986 Hughes Amendment are unconstitutional.
Several people I know met because of online dating. It's _a_ way of at least coordinating a meeting.
A noble endeavor
I don't hate catholics even though they are wrong.
that was tongue-in-cheek by the way.
There's a lot of cucked out catholic churches also. My mother explained it once. There's one roman catholic church that the pope is head of, but there's sort of a way they do... branches or something so that some sects of the church kind of have their own emphasis or way of doing things.
I don't know anything about calvinists. I think my brother goes to a calvinist church.
My mother is catholic
I'm not sure what my father is in to. He an I are probably alike in that we don't really follow the... err.. flavors (?) of the different protestant or catholic quirks.
That doesn't seem logically congruent with the teachings of Christ.
bahahaha
