80% are fine just don’t fuck it up and yeah use the polymer for .22 and practice I wouldn’t want to use one in a life or death scenario I have seen too many bushmaster polymers split in half

80% receivers are perfectly fine if you do it right. Polymer lowers can be half decent if reinforced at common failure points, such as the buffer tube threads.

Most new polymer lowers are very heavily reinforced, either with copper inserts or just a lot of extra material. As long as your rifle isn't absurdly over gassed I'm sure it'd be fine. The MAIN reason I'm going to build this one as a .22 is so both of my daughters can shoot a .22 AR style rifle at the same time and be able to learn manual of arms on a lighter rifle until they are confident with them to move to .223

Do not trust polymer lowers, period. Even reinforced ones. ARs that is, on pistols they work fine.

You can't trust a poly lower to hand the twisting of the weapon's cycling and abuse of field use.
