Tbh, I hate talking politics with normies

2019-11-02 15:27:45 UTC

This isn't counting defferal of gratification of course (something else directly linked to IQ)

As for metaphysics, I still see it as the only viable and consistant way to have any sort of morality.

2019-11-02 15:31:26 UTC

unironically you guys should adopt banjod religion

2019-11-02 15:31:32 UTC

@StRexPowerColt are you a moral realist by chance?

2019-11-02 15:31:45 UTC

what is a moral realist kek

2019-11-02 15:31:48 UTC

I am currently becoming a Banjodist

2019-11-02 15:31:57 UTC

evolutionary moralism is moral realism from my view

2019-11-02 15:32:02 UTC

Morals that morality is in reality and external to humans.

2019-11-02 15:32:20 UTC

that's a moral objectivist

2019-11-02 15:32:51 UTC

I haven't head of it till now

2019-11-02 15:32:57 UTC

Moral objectivists are mostly moral realists.

2019-11-02 15:32:57 UTC

and no i don't agree, it comes from humans and is an expression of behaviors coming from genes

2019-11-02 15:33:01 UTC

Heard of Moral Objectivist tho

2019-11-02 15:33:11 UTC

which makes it subjective

2019-11-02 15:33:16 UTC

<:basedmama:396156349676781569>

2019-11-02 15:33:38 UTC

I think morality is subjective, morality is simply how tribes operate and it will change from group to group

2019-11-02 15:34:05 UTC

I disagree, I believe in Logos

2019-11-02 15:34:14 UTC

Well, Adam Friended makes the case that evolutionary strategy is an objective morality.

2019-11-02 15:34:22 UTC

I hate to be the big brained centrist I guess, but thatโ€™s all I can really go to

2019-11-02 15:34:27 UTC

Heโ€™s an atheist by the way

2019-11-02 15:34:52 UTC

Autocorrect is good until it clicks you, kek

2019-11-02 15:35:01 UTC

basically all life that operates in groups because operating in groups leads to better chances of survival will develop their own moral systems which is merely an expression of behaviors that promote cohesion and better survival of members in the group

2019-11-02 15:35:40 UTC

i heard of his argument

2019-11-02 15:36:08 UTC

and honestly the way i see it, is that he is merely making objective statements about something inherently subjective

2019-11-02 15:36:10 UTC

Adam Friended argues that if morality developed to make groups more successful and coherent and evolved, we can measure it objectively. There, we should make an objective standard of morality around group fitness.

2019-11-02 15:36:56 UTC

I believe that there is an objective truth to the world, and that through reason, logic, and evidence that truth can be uncovered by man, and to some extant already has been.

2019-11-02 15:37:05 UTC

Yeah I hate saying morality is subjective, because I think cultures arenโ€™t equal, but that would imply itโ€™s objective

2019-11-02 15:37:13 UTC

Some Iโ€™m contradicting myself here

2019-11-02 15:37:33 UTC
2019-11-02 15:37:36 UTC

@StRexPowerColt so you think morality is created by people, thereโ€™s a truth and morality in the universe?

2019-11-02 15:37:40 UTC

his position if iirc is something like "these strategies that we call morality are a result of the objective statement that they are the result of things positive to grp survival so therefore it's objective"

2019-11-02 15:37:44 UTC

but as i said

2019-11-02 15:37:58 UTC

it's an obj statement about something subj it doesn't make it obj

2019-11-02 15:38:00 UTC

@Weaboo Kempeitai I blame the weird cat breed breeders

2019-11-02 15:38:11 UTC

@The Eternal Swede It seems happy though.

2019-11-02 15:38:16 UTC

"Let's just make 'fancy cats' to the point that they are barely even viable to live"

2019-11-02 15:38:22 UTC

Well, he is making subjective claims. But using an objective manner. Itโ€™s grounded in group fitness.

2019-11-02 15:38:41 UTC

I mean in a sense we can say itโ€™s objective since itโ€™s a survival strategy, so what ever works the best is obviously the best

2019-11-02 15:38:54 UTC

Agree. Many intentionally bred munchkins come out with defects. Their bones sort of give out on them or somthing.

2019-11-02 15:39:03 UTC

It would be a natural law morality.

2019-11-02 15:39:06 UTC

But still, that cat looks happy.

2019-11-02 15:39:15 UTC

No reason to put it down.

2019-11-02 15:39:15 UTC

Like might is right.

2019-11-02 15:39:20 UTC

Yeah, happiness is relative so I'm sure it's happy

2019-11-02 15:39:21 UTC

The Definition of โ€œbestโ€ isnโ€™t good though since with different genetics, cultures and geography โ€œbestโ€ change from tribe to tribe

2019-11-02 15:39:36 UTC

Can't miss something you never had, it's like being born blind as opposed to going blind.

2019-11-02 15:39:42 UTC

But breeding cats like that seems like a shitty thing to do

2019-11-02 15:40:12 UTC

I remember watching this video of kids trying to describe colour to sombody who was blind from birth but he seemed to get frustrated by it.

2019-11-02 15:40:30 UTC

Are you saying that since it varies, itโ€™s not objective?

2019-11-02 15:40:48 UTC

@The Eternal Swede I don't think it was intentionally bred this way, but may be a product of sombody attempting to breed a munchkin. Sombody in the comments said it had some sort of bone infection.

2019-11-02 15:40:57 UTC

Well implicitly yeah I am

2019-11-02 15:41:11 UTC

Though pointing it out like that makes me feel fucking stupid

2019-11-02 15:41:32 UTC

Itโ€™s a fair point.

2019-11-02 15:41:55 UTC

<:steflol:561214382181318656>

2019-11-02 15:41:58 UTC

@Weaboo Kempeitai I mean breeding any breed similar to munchkins in pushing the line of viability

2019-11-02 15:42:00 UTC

But I think when you use the term objective, itโ€™s something that can be empirical or standard.

2019-11-02 15:42:09 UTC

The standard being a group fitness.

2019-11-02 15:42:14 UTC

I hate those ugly little purse dogs we breed as well

2019-11-02 15:42:19 UTC

Abominable

2019-11-02 15:42:21 UTC

morning everyone

2019-11-02 15:42:29 UTC

@Nerthulas go back to sleep.

2019-11-02 15:42:33 UTC

why?

2019-11-02 15:42:43 UTC

<:monkaS:299267496668692493>

2019-11-02 15:42:46 UTC

what happened

2019-11-02 15:42:49 UTC

I told you to go back to sleep.

2019-11-02 15:42:54 UTC

@Hector I believe there is an underlying truth in the universe (Logos), and that things that conflict with that truth (which you can figure out through metaphysics and other such things with reson logic and evidence) are degenerate, or if they hurt someone besides oneself, evil.

2019-11-02 15:42:55 UTC

American Conservativism

2019-11-02 15:42:58 UTC

There are safe ways to breed munchkins though, apparently ones bred from Scottish Folds are the ones with defects, though people debate the efficacy of breeding them at all. People don't really want to regard them as a legitimate breed.

Lot of dog and cat breeds are basically the product of purposeful dysgenics. Intentionally breeding defects because they look cute. Now we have bulldogs who can barely breath.

2019-11-02 15:43:41 UTC

Whew morality is a tough one but at least here people are willing to talk about it unlike most normies

2019-11-02 15:44:06 UTC

@StRexPowerColt let me ask you a question. Is morality outside of men, a part of the universe and truth?

2019-11-02 15:44:21 UTC

People get angry when you discuss morality like itโ€™s a disgusting horrible fact

2019-11-02 15:44:25 UTC

Munchkins are very restricted in their ability to move around. It's very unfair. Most of a cat's recreational activities revolve around chasing things. It's their literal purpose to catch prey for you. It's what's ingrained in their evolution.

2019-11-02 15:44:25 UTC

not even the universe is outside of man

2019-11-02 15:44:59 UTC

Iโ€™m planning reading some books on morality.

2019-11-02 15:45:15 UTC

Frankly, Iโ€™m a Christcuck as many of you say.

2019-11-02 15:46:06 UTC

can you make a quick summary of why you believe that objective morality exists

2019-11-02 15:46:16 UTC

@Hector Try After Virtue by Alasdair MacIntyre.

2019-11-02 15:46:29 UTC

there are usually a few different basic classifications

2019-11-02 15:46:30 UTC

I donโ€™t hate Christians or anti theist

2019-11-02 15:46:52 UTC

Well, I believe in God and evolution. So I think that we can create a morality from the true, which I think you can slavery morality. @Nerthulas

2019-11-02 15:46:52 UTC

I just canโ€™t make myself believe that there is a god

2019-11-02 15:47:06 UTC

what do you mean we can create a morality from the true?

2019-11-02 15:47:15 UTC

how would we go about doing that

2019-11-02 15:47:22 UTC

if we create it is it really objective?

2019-11-02 15:47:35 UTC

@Weaboo Kempeitai got it on my list with real ethics, Genealogy of morality, and Rights and Wrongs.

2019-11-02 15:48:19 UTC

@Nerthulas by create, I meant a new synthesis. I think it as a morality already exist.

2019-11-02 15:48:53 UTC

Is that a fair answer?

2019-11-02 15:48:55 UTC

how do you get by the is-ought question?

2019-11-02 15:49:24 UTC

I guarantee that anything anybody could come up with would be facetious and purely linguistic

2019-11-02 15:49:36 UTC

What happens if you drink heavy water?

2019-11-02 15:49:55 UTC

@Nerthulas well, do numbers exist outside of the mind?

2019-11-02 15:50:11 UTC
