I think morality is subjective, morality is simply how tribes operate and it will change from group to group

2019-11-02 15:34:05 UTC

I disagree, I believe in Logos

2019-11-02 15:34:14 UTC

Well, Adam Friended makes the case that evolutionary strategy is an objective morality.

2019-11-02 15:34:22 UTC

I hate to be the big brained centrist I guess, but that’s all I can really go to

2019-11-02 15:34:27 UTC

He’s an atheist by the way

2019-11-02 15:34:52 UTC

Autocorrect is good until it clicks you, kek

2019-11-02 15:35:01 UTC

basically all life that operates in groups because operating in groups leads to better chances of survival will develop their own moral systems which is merely an expression of behaviors that promote cohesion and better survival of members in the group

2019-11-02 15:35:40 UTC

i heard of his argument

2019-11-02 15:36:08 UTC

and honestly the way i see it, is that he is merely making objective statements about something inherently subjective

2019-11-02 15:36:10 UTC

Adam Friended argues that if morality developed to make groups more successful and coherent and evolved, we can measure it objectively. There, we should make an objective standard of morality around group fitness.

2019-11-02 15:36:56 UTC

I believe that there is an objective truth to the world, and that through reason, logic, and evidence that truth can be uncovered by man, and to some extant already has been.

2019-11-02 15:37:05 UTC

Yeah I hate saying morality is subjective, because I think cultures aren’t equal, but that would imply it’s objective

2019-11-02 15:37:13 UTC

Some I’m contradicting myself here

2019-11-02 15:37:33 UTC
2019-11-02 15:37:36 UTC

@StRexPowerColt so you think morality is created by people, there’s a truth and morality in the universe?

2019-11-02 15:37:40 UTC

his position if iirc is something like "these strategies that we call morality are a result of the objective statement that they are the result of things positive to grp survival so therefore it's objective"

2019-11-02 15:37:44 UTC

but as i said

2019-11-02 15:37:58 UTC

it's an obj statement about something subj it doesn't make it obj

2019-11-02 15:38:00 UTC

@Weaboo Kempeitai I blame the weird cat breed breeders

2019-11-02 15:38:11 UTC

@The Eternal Swede It seems happy though.

2019-11-02 15:38:16 UTC

"Let's just make 'fancy cats' to the point that they are barely even viable to live"

2019-11-02 15:38:22 UTC

Well, he is making subjective claims. But using an objective manner. It’s grounded in group fitness.

2019-11-02 15:38:41 UTC

I mean in a sense we can say it’s objective since it’s a survival strategy, so what ever works the best is obviously the best

2019-11-02 15:38:54 UTC

Agree. Many intentionally bred munchkins come out with defects. Their bones sort of give out on them or somthing.

2019-11-02 15:39:03 UTC

It would be a natural law morality.

2019-11-02 15:39:06 UTC

But still, that cat looks happy.

2019-11-02 15:39:15 UTC

No reason to put it down.

2019-11-02 15:39:15 UTC

Like might is right.

2019-11-02 15:39:20 UTC

Yeah, happiness is relative so I'm sure it's happy

2019-11-02 15:39:21 UTC

The Definition of “best” isn’t good though since with different genetics, cultures and geography “best” change from tribe to tribe

2019-11-02 15:39:36 UTC

Can't miss something you never had, it's like being born blind as opposed to going blind.

2019-11-02 15:39:42 UTC

But breeding cats like that seems like a shitty thing to do

2019-11-02 15:40:12 UTC

I remember watching this video of kids trying to describe colour to sombody who was blind from birth but he seemed to get frustrated by it.

2019-11-02 15:40:30 UTC

Are you saying that since it varies, it’s not objective?

2019-11-02 15:40:48 UTC

@The Eternal Swede I don't think it was intentionally bred this way, but may be a product of sombody attempting to breed a munchkin. Sombody in the comments said it had some sort of bone infection.

2019-11-02 15:40:57 UTC

Well implicitly yeah I am

2019-11-02 15:41:11 UTC

Though pointing it out like that makes me feel fucking stupid

2019-11-02 15:41:32 UTC

It’s a fair point.
