Examples of white privilege (for the people asking)
- your history ( white history) is a required course in most schools and my history (black history) is only offered as an elective, both of which are American History
-you can go to the store and buy a band aid and it is probably close to the color of your skin
-when white people do "black things" (slang, hairstyle, dress) it is trendy. For us it is problematic
These are some petty examples but none of them are white peoples fault. This country is simply set up so that white is the "normal" and anything else is exotic or foreign. Having privilege does not make you a bad person!!! We ALL HAVE FORMS OF PRIVILEGE! For example I have straight privileges and male privileges and education privileges and family privileges. Think of your privileges not as a shameful thing but as a super power that you can use to help people who do not have your privileges.
