The most recent shadow of Mordor game has been criticized for the true ending requiring a lot of high quality orcs which you either have to tediously going for or play for gamble boxes to get them. They removed the gamble boxes & had to rebalance the game because you canโt buy to gamble to speed up your progress. Similar thing happened to Star Wars battlefront two.

many assassin's creed reviews point blank said "just buy all the xp/money/drop enhancers and it's a good game." That should be a sign that the game is purposely broken to make you buy the boosters.

as for Shadow of War... the whole point of it, from the gamer's side, was to double down on the rivalry system and really flush that out, make it truly epic.
What we actually got was lootbox orcs being the only way to win without an artificially bloated grind.
And when they finally finished milking it and started getting blowback thanks to the battlefront 2 fiasco snowballing to other games, they COMPLETELY REBALANCED THE ENDGAME so they could take lootboxes out. Because they knew the whole time that they purposely fucked it up to force lootboxes into it in the first place.
If you exited the game right before your orc died, you could reload and try again without losing the orc
Should you really have to do that though? Is that really something that should be a standard mechanic to avoid needing to buy lootboxes?

I don't mind DLC if it's decent. DLC can be a great thing when it's something they added on to an existing game and that makes it even better. The problem is DLC that should've been part of the main game and got cut out because "muh greed".

There should be a review score for games that is played specifically with only the base game, no DLC, no Microtransactions, no extra payment of any kind. Then specifically have that review exist only to take points off for doing shitty things regarding cut content and monetazation, and auto-apply that to any other score anywhere.
